Story
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

A Captivating Performance

What did you love best about The Girl on the Train?
The combination of Hawkins' vivid description and sympathetic characters and the performances of Corbett, Brealey, Fisher pulled me in instantly. I could not stop listening. Since the narrators switch back and forth, it was nice to hear a variety of performers. It helped me keep everyone straight.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!!! In fact, I'm pretty sure that I listening to most of the book in one sitting--or rather--in one garden work day. It got me through a hot day working on landscaping.
Any additional comments?
Sometimes certain novels don't translate well to audio versions. This book is an exception. The performers definitely captured the personalities of the characters they portrayed.

Story
Mma "Precious" Ramotswe sets up a detective agency in Botswana on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, making her the only female detective in the country. At first, cases are hard to come by. But eventually, troubled people come to Precious with a variety of concerns. Potentially philandering husbands, seemingly schizophrenic doctors, and a missing boy who may have been killed by witch doctors all compel Precious to roam about in her tiny van, searching for clues.

Africa from a fresh perspective

If you could sum up The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency in three words, what would they be?
inspiring, light, witty
Who was your favorite character and why?
The protagonist, Mme Mamatswe, is my favorite character. She never seems to take herself too seriously and knows exactly how to cut someone down to size without being cruel. An independent woman who overcomes circumstances that would leave others embittered, she retains her zest for life and love of her home village.
Which character – as performed by Lisette Lecat – was your favorite?
I have to say Mme Mamatswe once more. Liesette Lecat captured what I believe to be an accurate accent and cadence.
