Story
For over 800 years, Tibetan Buddhists have used lojong (literally, "mind training") to transform difficulties into insights, and conflict into genuine communication. Lojong practice uses a special meditation technique and 59 written maxims - a treasury of practical wisdom that inspires everyday awareness. Awakening Compassion is the first audio retreat on the practice of lojong taught by Pema Chödrön, the American-born Tibetan Buddhist nun and best-selling author.

Awakening My Own Compassion
Reviewed: 01-15-18
For the past three years, I have noticed that my circle of compassion (as Pema Chodron calls it) has grown smaller and smaller, until even myself wasn't included in it. The dwindling of this circle has gone unnoticed and it wasn't until after listening to a few chapters of this audio program that such a happening was made apparent to me. I thought myself to be such a jerk, both to others and myself, and now I'm realizing that such an attitude is part of the spiritual warrior's path. The journey to the Self is variegated and deeply personal. Therefore, there is no method that can be used; there are only techniques that work and those that do not. This audio program primarily uses two techniques: Tonglen and Lojong. Both of these have proved, to me, quite helpful in this journey. I can now say that, after finishing this program and practicing Tonglen for 10 minutes every night for a week, I don't feel quite so much like a jerk. I still feel like a worm, but the practice encourages me to feel my worm-ness and get in touch with what that feels like, and to realize that other people feel this worm-ness too. And by not running away from this feeling and instead breathing it in, getting to know it fully, compassion will grow: for myself and for other people. I bought this book 7 years ago and forgot all the teachings when things were going really well. Now I'm back in the same position before I bought the book, haha. This time, I'll take it slowly, one moment at a time, one breath at a time.

Story
In this second volume, Roland encounters three mysterious doorways on a deserted beach along the Western Sea. Each one enters into a different person's life in New York - here, he joins forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes in a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies. They also become the companions, forming a ka-tet, who will assist him on his quest to save the Dark Tower.

I f****** love this series.

Perhaps I haven't read enough to substantiate the claim that this series is the best I have ever read. Be that as it may, and many other book series such as Robert Jordan's (with the help of Brandon Sanderson) Wheel of Time series are the best I have ever read in their own way, I still believe that Stephen King's The Dark Tower series is plain gold. I haven't read many of his other books (I hope you can forgive me for not being the most constant of constant readers out there) but this one is by far one of the most exciting and memorable series of books I have read thus far.
Frank Muller is awesome, his performance even more so. Mr. George Guidall read the first (and I think the 5th, 6th, and 7th if I recall) and I have to say that after getting used to Mr. Guidall's voice it was a bit disappointing (at first) to have Mr. Muller reading King's Dark Tower series to me. But, that disappointment was short lived and about 20 minutes in, I forgot what I had missed. In short, Mr. Muller is great, as great as Guidall, and both deliver fantastic performances that any reader would be glad to listen to.
As far as the story goes, you'll just have to find out for yourself.
Long days and pleasant nights.
