Story
New York City in 1978 is a dirty, dangerous place to live - and die. Joey Peacock knows this as well as anybody - he has spent the last forty years as an adolescent vampire, perfecting the routine he now enjoys: womanizing in punk clubs and discotheques, feeding by night, and sleeping by day with others of his kind in the macabre labyrinth under the city's sidewalks.

Story
On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America - and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery.

Good Story....Read by Todd Barry?
Reviewed: 10-03-21
As a Stephen King lover, I have owned this paperback for years and have started and stopped quite a few times. I decided to use a credit on it...otherwise, with all due respect Frank, I wouldve stopped again in the first chapter. If you're a stand-up fan, you'll no doubt feel like you're getting roasted at a Todd Barry crowd-work set.
Every sentence seemed sarcastic and over the top like you would read someone a text from your mother-in-law. (My wife walked in while I was listening for a minute without earbuds and asked why I was listening to Little Nicky read)
While he calmed down toward the later chapters and there were some amusing charactor squeals, other than his ok Scatman Crothers impression, he has talked me out of using precious credits on the Dark Tower series...looks like he whines and whispers his way through the whole series. Dammit. Good story, longwinded ending, had to concentrate not to tune out the whole book.
