Story
For as long as she can remember, Jane Stuart and her mother have lived with her controlling grandmother in a dreary mansion in Toronto. Jane always believed her father was dead, so she was shocked to receive an invitation to stay with him for the summer on Prince Edward Island. But from their very first meeting, Jane fell in love with her charming father and his whimsical cottage. During her stay with him, she even found herself daring to dream that there could be such a house back in Toronto.

I love the way it is written, it makes you feel so happy. I enjoyed it tremendously, although the narrator repeated sentences often. A very lovely story.

Story
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

One of my favorites of Francine Rivers

Oh my goodness! I have listened to Leota’s Garden, The Atonement Child, and The Scarlet Thread, But this is my favorite of all time!! It touched me like no other of her books. The characters are ones who’s views are expressed so easily throughout the story, that you can relate and feel like you know them. I have had trouble with my faith too, and this was so powerful and so helpful to me. Thank you, Francine Rivers, for writing this great book.

This one was so great to listen to. It was so heartfelt, and the characters were expressed so well that I felt like I knew them personally. I recently finished The Atonement Child before I started this one, which is probably my favorite of hers so far. This one did go a little far when it talked about sleeping together. But other than that, it was great. And I recommend it to all you Audible listeners.

Fourteen-year-old Billy Andrews has a big mouth that tends to plunge him into deep trouble. His loose tongue is only a part of the problem - he's also a thief and a liar whose ultimate dream in life is to see the government pay for his housing and groceries while he sits home and does nothing. Fortunately for Billy, after he gets caught pick-pocketing an off-duty police officer, he is placed under the watchful eye of probation officer Philip Bones. Mr. Bones will stop at nothing to turn Billy around - no matter how obstinate the teenager may be.

I have already listened to Rebuilding Alden, and it was great! I was so excited to find out there was another book! The narrator is really good, plays the voices perfectly, and expresses the emotions so well that it adds so much to the joy of listening to this book! I love JR Thompson for writing these books, and further exploiting the difficulties of teens. Great job to both narrator and writer!

Story
Once Leota's garden was a place of beauty - where flowers bloomed and hope thrived. It was her refuge from the deep wounds inflicted by a devastating war, her sanctuary where she knelt before a loving God and prayed for the children who couldn't understand her silent sacrifices. At 83, Leota is alone; her beloved garden is in ruins. All her efforts to reconcile with her adult children have been fruitless. She voices her despair to a loving Father, her only friend. And God brings a wind of change through unlikely means....

Listening to this showed me what truly great writing is, and how the struggles of characters can impact each and everyone of us. This book showed me the pain and suffering of a family, which reminded me of the hard times my family had, and gave me hope because of how each of them dealt with it in the story.
I pray that I can express feelings as well as Rivers did in my books, and that I would keep in mind the reason I started writing, to talk of Jesus’s sacrifice and to bring glory to His Name. Thank you, Francine Rivers, for this amazing experience, which was the first of your books that I’ve read. I am so excited to read more about God in each new book I start on!
