Story
Do you have a nagging feeling that something’s missing from your church experience? You’re not alone. And it’s time to discover a better way. Church-reform advocate and Bible scholar Peter DeHaan, PhD, is a strong proponent of meaningful Christian community. In Jesus’s Broken Church, he uses Scripture to guide us into right practices and away from the off-track customs that most every church adheres to. The problem is that today’s church follows an Old Testament model.

Putting God in a box

My family and I have been discussing the topics this book addresses for several years. It is good to know that there are others who see problems in God’s church and the need to make some changes. Too many of us get stuck in a cycle of just going through the motions and not thinking about how God would view our actions or how we can grow spiritually and help others. I have been considering incremental changes in places we attend worship. Also, there is no reason to feel we can’t also start small groups in our communities since worship can be anywhere at any time and can also be integrated into a work or recreational situation.
