Story
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

I would have been very disappointed if it had not ended the way I figured it out. But it kept me in suspense wondering if I was right or wrong.

Story
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Why do authors feel they have to use filthy language to write a book. Didn't get pass first chapter. I wish books were rated like movies, so decent people would not have to put up with this trash

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe...it repeated the same sentence over and over. Always about Jesus uncle laughing.
That got old, when listening...might not have been so bad if I was reading it.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Did a good job

In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Would you listen to The Light Between Oceans again? Why?
No...I only listen to a book once. To many great stories to listen to. and want to hear as many as possible.
Any additional comments?
Maybe I'm getting hard of hearing, but when the narrator dropped his voice, which he seemed to do a lot. I had trouble hearing him. I've not noticed this in my other audible books. Even with this I really enjoyed the book.
