Although this book starts a little slow, you soon get to know the characters and you want to travel to Montana. The author has done a wonderful job, bringing customs of the east and west together and harmony enjoyed the reading very much.

Love books of Beverly Jenkins. I especially love that she brings in historical data about African-American people and their flight and America. She also reminds us of prosperity in modern times used somewhat a slave Masters used their resources in days of old to hold each other back. Great job shining the light of liberation and justice. Great jo Ms Jenkins.

Story
In a small Southern town where loyalty to family and to "your people" carries the weight of a sacred oath, defying those unspoken rules can be a deadly proposition. After 15 years of growing up in the Ozark hills with his widowed mother, high-school freshman Boady Sanden is beyond ready to move on. He dreams of glass towers and cityscapes, driven by his desire to be anywhere other than Jessup, Missouri. The new kid at St. Ignatius High School, if he isn't being pushed around, he is being completely ignored.

This story took 20 years to write because it’s such an unbelievable story. It shows a horrible legacy of many places in our country. Thank you Mr. Allen for writing such a difficult story. One reason people want books taken out of libraries in America today. To hide the horrible and dangerous pass in America.
