Story
Xander Corey lives simply, sustainably, on the outskirts of Osprey, a small, quaint town in Upstate New York. He’s a librarian when the town’s budget can afford him, a good friend, kind neighbor, and also, a witch. And while that’s of no concern to anyone around him, there are others, non-humans, who have a vested interest in Xander’s family land. Xander knows something dark and dangerous is brewing. He’s just not quite sure what.

an ok book

It was not bad just predictable. Romantic scenes were kind of awkward. The author also tried to set up military/government plot line which i assume is supposed to tie all the series together but again, kind of awkward and not well thought out.

Story
Although Victor Bayne is a valued asset of the FPMP, he still vividly recalls his PsyCop days: the eye rolls, the nasty looks, and the occasional utterance of the words Spook Squad whenever he showed up on a scene. So he really should empathize with Howard Jibben, the weekend lab manager known as Heebie Jeebie.

Reviewed: 06-25-24
This and the last couple of books in this series have not added anything new or interesting to the story. The last 3 books are like rehashes of prior books. I have liked the series up till now and i really like the narrator chris ciulla. I know i'll buy at least one more but if the author doesn't do anything to advance the story probably no more than that.

Disappointed

The narrorator was changed. This is a huge disappointment because it literally changed the personalities of all the characters in the story so much that it is like listening to a different story line. The narrorator of the first few books is one of the best i've heard in all the many audiobooks i've listened to and he really brought these characters to life. This narrorator was ok but the characters became very 2 dimensional in his rendition. I am very disappointed in who ever made the decision to change narrators half way through the series.

Story
Gideon Frayne has spent his whole working life as a policeman in the village of Dark on Bodmin Moor. His first missing-child case is eating him alive. When his own boss sends in a psychic to help with the case, he's gutted - he's a level-headed copper who doesn't believe in such things, and he can't help but think that the arrival of clairvoyant Lee Tyack is a comment on his failure to find the little girl. But Lee is hard to hate, no matter how Gideon tries. At first Lee's insights into the case make no sense, but he seems to have a window straight into Gideon's heart.

I have listened to all of the available audio books in this series and have enjoyed every minute of it. I hope the rest of the books in this series get made into audio's as well. PLEase if the rest are made into audio books please use the same narrator. A good narrator gives the characters a voice and a personality that makes or breaks an audio book. When it is changed mid stream it essentially alters the personalities and the characters are never the same. Please Ms Fox hire the same guy.

A different place - another time - and where the city’s streets keep secrets and shadowy mysteries, SFPD Inspector Spencer Ricci needs to dig through after he finds himself on a case involving a dismembered, mummified man in a restaurant’s locked storage room.
