Story
On October 22, 1989, in the small town of St. Joseph, Minnesota, eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped at gunpoint. Twenty-seven years later, Danny Heinrich led authorities to the boy’s remains. What lies between is the riveting story of the search for Jacob, told by his mother, Patty. With down-to-earth candor, she details the investigation as it unfolds, discusses her family’s struggles, and shows how she maintained her energy and optimism.

Beautiful and excruciating

As a kid growing up in MN during the time of Jacob’s disappearance this book was brutal to read. I also had a friend, Grant, who had a very similar story other than we knew within days we had lost him. This book haunted me. It was so very hard to read but the story and the message is crucial. My lie was ch as need then and now. I remember my dad telling me when they finally found Jacob. We sat in silence together, there were no words to say. We had been here before. We were crushed. Patti thank you for your bravery in sharing this story. You helped keep us kids of the 80s and 90s safer and more aware. We knew to be resistant to scary things or uncomfortable situations. I have no doubt you, your family, and especially Jacob SAVED and PROTECTED many children.
