Story
Stephanie Plum, Trenton’s hardest working, most underappreciated bounty hunter, is offered an assignment that seems simple enough. Local jeweler Martin Rabner wants her to locate his former security guard, Andy Manley (a.k.a. Nutsy), who he is convinced stole a fortune in diamonds from his safe. Stephanie is also looking for another troubled man, Duncan Dugan, a fugitive from justice arrested for robbing the same jewelry store on the same day.

Surprisingly Thoughtful and Astute
Reviewed: 12-20-21
I purchased this book on a whim. I never have particularly been interested in Rob Lowe or his films. The listening was a pleasant surprise of thoughtful introspection and interesting antidotes. The narrative moved quickly and was filled with just the right amount of Hollywood tidbits and personal growth.

When Stephanie Plum is woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of footsteps in her apartment, she wishes she didn’t keep her gun in the cookie jar in her kitchen. And when she finds out the intruder is fellow apprehension agent Diesel, six feet of hard muscle and bad attitude who she hasn’t seen in more than two years, she still thinks the gun might come in handy.

Another fun romp with Stephanie Plum. Although I am not so much a fan of the Diesel character, the book moves along fast and with lots of fun. Lorelei King is the ONLY narrator for these books. Thanks.

Cassandra Campbell provides consistent characterization and a variety of voice inflections that keep the listener engaged. A great summer escape!

Basically a Short Story to Keep the Series Alive

This was a delightful listen while I cleaned the kitchen and got caught up with some correspondence. Single purpose and direction, but enjoyable characters. I listened out of order by mistake and was wondering where the love interest from book one had gone, but I'll roll back to the beginning and catch up. There really wasn't time for extra details in this episodic selection.

A Great Return of the Series
Reviewed: 02-23-21
The author really pulls out the stops in this homage to the detective novels of a bygone era. It provides a wonderful bit of nostalgia into a bygone era of writing. I thoroughly enjoyed listening. There has been a lapse since her last book in the series and I'm hoping that she will share another book with her readers soon.

Story
The one rule bookshop owner and widow Penelope Thornton-McClure has given ghostly, hard-boiled PI Jack Shepard is to not haunt the customers. But when the hot, young author Angel Stark arrives at the store to promote her latest true-crime novel, Jack can hardly contain himself. Angel's book is an unsolved mystery about a debutante found strangled to death, and it's filled with juicy details that point a finger at a number of people in the deb's high-society circle. But when the author winds up dead, too - in precisely the same way - Pen is fast on the case...which means Jack is, too.
