Story
Karl Strong is lonely. Not quite alone, which is, perhaps, worse. His best friend moved away, his mother died, and his father has crawled into a hole and pulled it in after him. He is a talented athlete, but after high school, he lets himself go and dies of a heart attack. Luckily, this is Middle Falls, where death is rarely the end of the story. Karl will have every chance to find what he needs.

I hate to see the timer ticking towards the end. Just another solid story from our favorite little town in Oregon. Scott Brick is brilliant...I love the interludes and I am looking forward to learning more about that aspect of this world that Shawn is sharing with us. I always find something to call my own when I read these stories. Thank you Shawn and Scott!

Story
Founded by the mysterious genius known as the Designer, the archipelago of Prospera lies hidden from the horrors of a deteriorating outside world. In this island paradise, Prospera’s lucky citizens enjoy long, fulfilling lives until the monitors embedded in their forearms, meant to measure their physical health and psychological well-being, fall below 10 percent. Then they retire themselves, embarking on a ferry ride to the island known as the Nursery, where their failing bodies are renewed, their memories are wiped clean, and they are readied to restart life afresh.

Such a great story told so well! The narrators were dynamite! Justin Cronin is such a great writer and what an imagination. I've listened to The Passage trilogy several times and I plan to listen to this one again and again. Several well-planned twists and many story lines that felt rooted in real life.... great book! I just hope that if it gets optioned for development on the screen, they do a better job than they did with the Passage adaptation. I really enjoyed Sott Brick and Suzanne Elise Freeman, they took the story over the top.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

I bought this and the sequel when they ran a special.....so glad! It is a very unique take on magik and its origins. Plenty of grit very well thought out. I just purchased the third book and Im dreading the thought of having to wait for a fourth to make it to audible. Pinchot is a great reader I will look for more of his stuff from now on. Enjoy!!!

Story
A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far - a book about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes King introduced in Mr. Mercedes. "Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades.
