One in five Americans now has medical debt in collections and rising health care costs today threaten every small business in America. Dr Makary, one of the nation's leading health care experts, travels across America and details why health care has become a bubble. Drawing from on-the-ground stories, his research and his own experience, The Price We Pay paints a vivid picture of price-gouging, middlemen and a series of elusive money games in need of a serious shake-up.

a great overview of healthcare's problems
Reviewed: 07-12-20
I really enjoyed the author/narrator's enthusiasm for this topic. he gave a great overview of the many ways the healthcare business has become a game to make money. I think the best part was learning about the positive initiatives that are coming out to try and turn healthcare back into caring about people and away from caring only about the bottom line.
Definitely recommend.

Over the past decade, A Patriot's History of the United States has become the definitive conservative history of our country, correcting the biases of historians and other intellectuals who downplay the greatness of America's patriots. Professors Schweikart and Allen have now revised, updated, and expanded their book, which covers America's long history with an appreciation for the values that made this nation uniquely successful.

Too opinionated
Reviewed: 03-17-19
One of the things I enjoy about reading history is getting an objective view of the events that have formed our world. To see decisions made by leaders and the consequences those decisions brought. To understand not what is right or wrong but, why we have the cultures and environment that exists today.
I understand that many history books are filled with opinions on the past and the writer seeks to offer a viewpoint from the other side but, all that does is add another subjective history book in a genre that should only hold the facts of the past.
I wanted to like this book because from the sample it sounded like it was better written for listening to as opposed to other history books on Audible. In the end however, it was another disappointment.

Cringeworthy Reading

I tried using it to study for the business law clep but, I just couldn't keep listening to it. The speaker does a cringeworthy job of trying to keep listener's instead. Try The Great Courses instead.

Story
In this revelatory biography, Evan Thomas delivers a radical, unique portrait of America’s 37th president, Richard Nixon, a contradictory figure who was both determinedly optimistic and tragically flawed. One of the principal architects of the modern Republican Party and its “silent majority” of disaffected whites and conservative ex-Dixiecrats, Nixon was also deemed a liberal in some quarters for his efforts to desegregate Southern schools, create the Environmental Protection Agency, and end the draft.
