Good, but easy to forget

Good: I thought the ending was better than the first book, and the narrator was exceptional, as usual. I was entertained throughout. Bad: This will be an easy book to forget.

Story
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

The Narration makes this book. The story was boring and not a single new take on the drugs, rock and roll scene.

I almost gave up until they introduced the second timeline. Then, it never really caught up with the potential of this story, which was a great idea. I didn't mind that some parts never connected or finished, but we pass by rich characters and their storylines just to be left in the dark. Wasted potential. If I had been given more character development and information, as another reviewer mentioned, it might have been worth the ending. I won't recommend, but also won't stop someone who wants to read about Venice. Use a map and follow along, there is a lot of streets and sights mentioned.

Not a thriller or drama, it is human connection.

I loved this listen. It was about the characters and their lives and connections to life. It was sweet, and frustrating. The narrator is excellent, if a little slow, (some might want to increase their listening speed) but I left it as recorded which made me slow down and enjoy it more. Highly recommend if you don't know what to listen to next. It's an unusual find.

It is a great premise and started strong. So strong, I was excited for the reveal. At hour 9, I was just waiting to finish so I could move onto another book. As mentioned above, the narration was one tone, one mood and I rolled my eyes more than once. I think the narrator did well, but without depth of characters, there was nothing to emote. This book might have been better read than heard.

Story
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

Great Sunday listen. The narrators were perfect and really added to this book, because of the way the author formatted it. I didn't find the ending as surprising as everyone else, pretty easy to figure out, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable. Recommend.

Trauma victims are not new to medical examiner Faith McIntyre, but this one is different. The unconscious woman clinging to life after a hit and run is FBI agent Macy Crow. What the woman from Quantico was doing in a dark alley after midnight is just one mystery. The other is more unsettling: Macy is Faith’s mirror image—the twin sister she never knew she had.

Amazing Writing

The combination of the writing and the narrator made this book one of my all time favourites.
I may have to go buy the physical book, just to reread it. Some of the phrases are just so perfect I stopped what I was doing to play it over in my head. That very rarely happens with an audio book.
I've already bought the second one by the author. Fingers crossed !!!
