Story
Robert Forczyk's incisive study offers fresh insight into how the two most powerful mechanized armies of WWII developed their tactics and weaponry during the early years of the Russo-German War. He uses German, Russian, and English sources to provide the first comprehensive overview and analysis of armored warfare from the German and Soviet perspectives.

I enjoyed the story but the speaker sounded like he was constipated on the toilet constantly waiting for kerplunk for 13 hours.

Horrendous performance
Reviewed: 09-11-22
The reader had no imagination.. Every person's character had the same voice. It was hard to tell when the characters switched. He couldn't get the names of the characters correct either. I'm going to have to suffer listening to the next 2 books unless they change the narrator.

Story
In the spring of 1940, the Germans launched a military offensive in France and the Low Countries that married superb intelligence, the latest military thinking, and new technology. It was a stunning victory, altering the balance of power in Europe in one stroke, and convincing the entire world that the Nazi war machine was unstoppable. But as Lloyd Clark, a leading British military historian and academic, argues, much of our understanding of this victory, and blitzkrieg itself, is based on myth.

I enjoyed the details that were missing from other narratives. This wasn't just about German Blitzkieg beating France. There was a lot more reasons as to why France succumbed to the invasion.

Throughout history great generals have done what their enemies have least expected. Instead of direct, predictable attack, they have deceived, encircled, outflanked, out-thought, and triumphed over often superior armies commanded by conventional thinkers.

Story
In the American Civil War, or the War between the States, three dashing cavalry leaders - Stuart, Forrest, and Mosby - so captured the public imagination that their exploits took on a glamour, which we associate - as did the writers of the time - with the deeds of the Waverley characters and the heroes of chivalry. Of the three leaders, Colonel John S. Mosby (1833 - 1916), was, perhaps, the most romantic figure. In the South, his dashing exploits made him one of the great heroes of the "Lost Cause". In the North, he was painted as the blackest of redoubtable scoundrels.

Story
Panzer Gunner is a unique memoir of a Canadian serving in a German armored division. Bruno Friesen explains what it was like to fight in a tank on the Eastern Front and provides details on the battlefield performance of the Panzer IV tank. Six months before World War II erupted in 1939, Bruno Friesen was sent to Germany by his father in hopes of a better life. Friesen was drafted into the Wehrmacht three years later and ended up in the 7th Panzer Division. Friesen experienced intense combat against the Soviets in Romania, Lithuania, and West Prussia.

Measurements of a jagdpanzer
Reviewed: 06-05-20
if you are looking for an exciting war story of tank combat look elsewhere. The book spends way too much time of the measurements of a Panzer 4 and Jadgpanzer 4. The book had about 3 chapters of combat. The title is misleading as the Panzer gunner only explained 3 engagements he was involved in. I would suggest reading Love and War: An American Volunteer in the Soviet Red Army - Book 1: 1941-1943 (Love and War: An American Volunteer in the Soviet Red Army)

The speaker is not engaging due to his high and nasal pitch. A booming voice similar to James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman is needed to capture the essence of the narrator.
