Story
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

fun road trip listen
Reviewed: 11-27-22
The book is fun and meant to be so. It is entertaining, moves at a good pace, and, at times, characters can be endearing (including the main Kaiju). Loved the banter! so happy to find a story that takes place during the lockdown but it's not about it.
From the author's note, it sounds like this was a quick turnaround, but still the world building is there, and you get that sense of familiarity with KPS and it's staff as you read. My only issue with the book is the final conflict situation. It was rushed and not well developed, which sucks considering how well paced and built the rest was.
That said, it was a fun book with an outstanding narrator!

Story
Spoilers ahead. Possibly the most romantic of all Heyer novels, in this episode we fall under the spell of Dameral - a young Classics nerd turned rake, rejected by his family and society; and Venetia - pragmatic, brave, witty and kind despite a lifetime of loneliness. Theirs is an uncommon love, and we absolutely luxuriate in it. But it's not all about the love story, because when Mrs Scorrier and Edward Yardley are on the scene the red mist of anger descends upon us. We simply cannot bear to see these domineering and outrageous figures persecute our lovely heroine. But of course, it's always ...

They take their time to go thorough characters, situations, and sometimes the writing itself. Feels like a good friendly conversations. When they disagree there's just a "hmmm" and they politely move on. I found that cute.

I find this book very entertaining. if that's why you're going for you are likely to enjoy it. still, there are some basic errors in here that kill the illusion of the book, like the one in the review headline: Carlsbad is in New Mexico! I know because that's where I live! these errors are spread out all over the book and if you're willing to ignore them you can have a good time.
the narration is very good, the story flows quite well, and the characters are uni-dimensional but they get the job done.

Story
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Though she is injured, she manages to drag herself and her unconscious mother out of the wreckage, and amid the chaos that ensues, a brilliant young railway surgeon saves her mother's life. Elizabeth feels an immediate connection with Paul Wilcox - though society would never deem a medical man eligible for the daughter of an earl.

The train line plot was nicely done. Though the main character is smart she's pretty predictable. The doctor and journalist were much more interesting and seemed to rob the scene every time.
The narrator has a beautiful voice, her male and female characters were believable. However, the cadence and intonation she uses for the main character make her sound as she is about to weep all the time, which was kind of annoying.

What did you love best about Horton Hears a Who?
The story is great on its own, but Mr. Hoffman's voice surely brings it to life. My 3-year old loves hearing it over and over, and knows it almost all by heart.
