Disappointing and Melodramatic

I've enjoyed the Nocturne Falls and Shadowvale books by Kristin Painter. But, this was a disappointing addition to the NF universe. Too little character development and far, Far too much repeating of the same emotional sentiments -- loving GF with undeserving BF with a heart of gold, characters introduced without follow-up, and a climax in the last half of the last chapter that leaves you thinking 'Seriously?'

I've read almost everything she's written, and this is a nice return to classic Jayne that has more story depth and character development than the last effort, Guild Boss. I enjoyed the return of the Sweetwater's, and meeting Ravenna and Ethan.

I really enjoyed the story and the narration. Sad to say that this was probably my first rom com from an Asian perspective. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking for more.

Terrific, But Darker Sequel

I loved the first book, and was anxious about this one but living up to the standard. But, while the story is safer and darker, I just loved the way that Jane and Katherine grow ... apart and together. While the story is fiction, the portrayals of the ravages of racism and trauma are realistic. A resolution was satisfying and light enough to leave a sweet taste in my mouth.

Interesting Supernaturals

This story was an interesting take on 3 new types of supernaturals in Nocturne Falls:. a Grim Reaper, a Genie, and a Ghost with a Soul. I really enjoyed learning about their problems and vulnerabilities, with just the right touch of humor, covered in a delightful romance. The excellent (and sexy) narration made it a wonderful paranormal romance sundae!!

We finally get to learn Julian's story, and it's a pretty good one. Is he really as big a play boy as we thought? Why does he spend so much time in Las Vegas??

Nice info about Ivan and Dragons and other things. Nice inclusion of characters from earlier books. But the main story was a bit tired.

Great continuation in Nocturne Falls, only this time it's the woman who does the protecting and the man who is in danger! Fun with terrific narration!

I'm enjoying the Nocturne Falls books because the characters are fun and good people. The dialogue is sharp and funny. And, the narrator's voice is so sexy, that I feel a little guilty about listening at work.
