Story
Stephen Mansfield, the acclaimed New York Times best-selling author, has highlighted the growing popularity of Mormonism—a belief system with cultic roots—and the implications of its critical rise. Mormons are moving into the spotlight in pop culture, politics, sports, and entertainment via presidential candidates like Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, media personality Glenn Beck, mega-bestselling Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, and The Book of Mormon, the hottest show on Broadway.

I am LDS and am open to others views. find this an enjoyable critique on my own faith. however I do think the author speaks to authoritatively on a faith he obviously researched, but still does not completely know. he's more right than wrong and appreciate his attempt.

good but long....

I really appreciate the unbiased, fair minded and logical way this book treated the subject. however, beware, it goes deep....I would have preferred (and been able to use) a 4-6 hr version of the book. this was almost too detailed and expert for me to feel like I can tell my friend about the book with any justice. all in all, glad I listened. I'm more informed and fair in my views because of it.

Story
Bertrand Russell wrote that mathematics can exalt "as surely as poetry". This is especially true of one equation: ei(pi) + 1 = 0, the brainchild of Leonhard Euler, the Mozart of mathematics. More than two centuries after Euler's death, it is still regarded as a conceptual diamond of unsurpassed beauty. Called Euler's identity, or God's equation, it includes just five numbers but represents an astonishing revelation of hidden connections.

Best parenting book I have come across because it fundamentally focuses on what you can actually control, yourself not your child. I love the idea of being open to who our kids actually are as opposed to turning them into our expectations. Insightful to realize our own fears are actually the root of our kids "problems".

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Story
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

I struggled with the abundance of correlation posed as causation. I appreciated the premise and call for civility, just struggled a bit with some of the assertions of social science.
