Story
A kid walks into your bookstore and says to you, Guess what? I'm your son. The one you put up for adoption seventeen years ago. The one you never told anyone about. Surprise! His name is Matthew Walker, and he's come to spend the summer on the Cape with his parents. Why? Well, he wants to meet you before he heads off to college in the fall. Tiny detail—he didn't tell his adoptive parents about his plan. And while you hoped this day would come someday, you're so stunned, you actually faint.

Loved this story, couldn’t put it down. Great character depth. My only complaint was Cindy’s voice. Very hard to listen to and usually had to turn the volume down.

This novel of awesome beauty and power is a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love. Through Jean M. Auel’s magnificent storytelling we are taken back to the dawn of modern humans, and with a girl named Ayla we are swept up in the harsh and beautiful Ice Age world they shared with the ones who called themselves the Clan of the Cave Bear.

Reading this book was better than listening. Story is good but the author doesn’t do a good job at reading. Her voices are not very fluid and sometimes annoying to listen to. Hopefully it will be better for the next book.

Good wrap up to the series

Some books I want to have more of an ending and this book did a great job of wrapping up the Splintered series. The narrator accent is annoying at times but otherwise this does a good job of finishing the series.
If you like the other books in this series I would definitely read this book.

Sweet story not as good as as her others
Reviewed: 12-04-21
I loved listening to Heather Webber’s other 2 books and looked for more from her. This is all I found and it seemed similar to her other stories.
It was just okay for me. I didn’t get lost into this story as much as her other two books.
The characters voices were not as smooth and a couple of them were hard to listen to. I did not like it when LC would be talking and would talk in Sadies voice. It was too different. It wasn’t as bad for the narrator of Sadie talking as LC. I think there were too many characters for just 2 people to narrate.
I just a word of causing before you think this is as good as Midnight at Blackbird cafe, it’s not.

Story
Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café. It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

I wasn’t sure about this book when I bought it but was looking for a sweet hometown story. This is a nice story about a girl that is lost in what she wants in life and returns to her mother’s hometown to honor her grandmother wishes after she passes.
I would recommend getting this book, it was hard to put down and finished it in a week. I kept wanting to know what Anna Kate discovered next. Narration was really nice a melodic and the narrator did a descent job with the different voices.

Can’t stop listening
Reviewed: 02-12-21
I have recently started listening to historical fiction and loving it more and more. This story is another lost story in history not widely known. I couldn’t put this story down and I was sucked into the lives of Whinny and Jack. I urge you to listen to the story of what British Home Children went through thinking they would have a better life than what they left behind. Narration was great and flowed as the story read along. Jacks narrator was hard to listen to when he was doing a female voice but otherwise a great story.

Story
The land outside of the Old City was supposed to be green, lush, hopeful. A place where Alice could finally rest, no longer the plaything of the Rabbit, the pawn of Cheshire, or the prey of the Jabberwocky. But the verdant fields are nothing but ash - and hope is nowhere to be found. Still, Alice and Hatcher are on a mission to find his daughter, a quest they will not forsake even as it takes them deep into the clutches of the mad White Queen and her goblin or into the realm of the twisted and cruel Black King. The pieces are set, and the game has already begun.

Grown up version for Alice and Wonderland readers
Reviewed: 01-10-21
This sequel continues the story of Alice and Hatcher in search of his lost daughter, Jeni. Filled with mystery and adventure again similar to the first book but I feel more interesting to listen to. Didn’t want to stop listening and couldn’t wait o see what challenges came upon Alice as she tried to find Hatcher. I recommend this series if you like twists about original stories. After reading this series I may listen to some of the authors others twist of classics stories. Do not listen to this book until you have listened to the first book since it takes up from where the other left off. The narrator does a great job of keeping the reader entranced in the story although some of her voices can be annoying.

Story
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Don’t waste a credit on this!

This story had high reviews so I purchased it with a credit. That was a mistake. I tried 3 times to get into this story but couldn’t. The story line was all over the place and I couldn’t follow what characters were being portrayed during the story. I didn’t understand the plot and finally deleted it from my device. I have read other stories based on folklores but didn’t get this one. Don’t waste time or money on this.
