The loveliest!

This novel feels like a modern Pride & Prejudice. The characters are so layered and rich and the town full of so much charm. I will miss getting to live among them as I listened to this incredible book.

Story
Kitty Harris has it all: cosily coupled up with boyfriend Archie, she’s putting in the hours at an ad agency to land her dream job. OK, so maybe they’ve become a bit too comfortable in their routine, with pizza night every Thursday, and maybe the agency isn’t so much up-and-coming as been-and-gone, but Kitty is happy. Until one diamond ring sitting pretty in her pepperoni ruins everything. Kitty does NOT want to get married, not after being caught in the crosshairs of her parent’s destructive divorce.

I was without credits and looking for a good read and found this one included with my Audible membership! The best compliment I can give is that I would happily have used all my credits for the month on this book. What a truly great love story with incredible narration!! Will definitely be looking for more by this author and narrator!

Story
Summer 1940: Hedy Bercu fled Vienna two years ago. Now she watches the skies over Jersey for German planes, convinced that an invasion is imminent. When it finally comes, there is no counterattack from Allied forces - the Channel Islands are simply not worth defending. Most islanders and occupying forces settle into an uneasy coexistence, but for Hedy, the situation is perilously different. For Hedy is Jewish — a fact that could mean deportation, or worse.
