Story
Nathaniel Bainbridge is used to hiding, whether it's concealing his struggles with reading or his forbidden desire for men. Under the thumb of his controlling father, the governor of Primrose Isle, he's sailing to the fledging colony, where he'll surrender to a respectable marriage for his family's financial gain. Then pirates strike and he's kidnapped for ransom by the Sea Hawk, a legendary villain of the New World. Bitter and jaded, Hawk harbors futile dreams of leaving the sea for a quiet life, but men like him don't deserve peace. He has a score to settle with Nathaniel's father.

This story is ok. Typical of early Keira. But Collins fancied it up. Really enjoyed this.

This series is decidedly lackluster in the romance but fun in the mystery and the ghosts are the best part. I disliked the secret keeping and lack of relationship between MC’s but was invested in the mystery and the HEA for the ghosts haha.

Story
Mack Garrett loves the rolling hills surrounding his Northern California dude ranch. Leading vacationers on horse trails with his two best friends is enough - romance is definitely not in the cards. When a sexy tourist shows up at Clean Slate, he's as far from Mack's type as can be. So why is the handsome city slicker so far under his skin in less than a day?

I love Greg but this book was rough. It’s not his fault the book was awful, but he wasn’t on either. It’s probably because of how old both the book and the audio are. Won’t be continuing.

Reviewed: 08-29-24
Kirt is typically not the kind of narrator I enjoy, but thanks to one of his most popular series, I’ve become attached to his narration. He did a great job with this. The story was surprisingly angsty and lovely for the most part. I have a couple of plot niggles but overall I enjoyed it.

Story
When Luca Ward was five years old, he swore he would love Imre Claybourne forever. Years later, when Luca finds himself shipped off to Imre's North Yorkshire goat farm in disgrace, long-buried feelings flare back to life. The lines around Imre's eyes may be deeper, the once-black night of his hair silvered to steel and stone . . . but he's still the same slow-moving mountain of a man whose quiet-spoken warmth, gentle hands, and deep ties to his Roma heritage have always, to Luca, meant home. The problem? Imre is more than twice Luca's age. And Luca's father's best friend.

I’ve read this book before and was unsure of Philip’s narration based on the clip. But he was incredible. The accents alone but he did such a great job with the emotion and subtly on such a long and poetic book. So glad I grabbed it.

Story
In the archaeology community, Christopher “Kit” Sawyer’s family is a legacy. And while he may be a historian, not a treasure hunter, he thinks he does a pretty good job of living up to the Sawyer name. He's a book-smart research fanatic and does his best work at his tidy desk. No fedora and whip for him, if you please—a nice cup of coffee and a comfy chair will do. But decoding an ancient relic soon gives him more adventure than he bargained for.

Joel saved a pretty drab storyline
Reviewed: 06-06-24
I expected gay steamy action adventure, what I didn’t expect was basically the exact same plot of Temple of Doom and unfortunately one of the male MMC’s was just like the FMC from the movie and the other a reality tv star rather than Indiana Jones. Shrieking and swooning at everything and constantly having to get rescued. This author has never quite worked for me but I wanted to try because the plot is right up my alley. But it did not work.
But Joel is awesome so those stars are for him.

The 1960 baseball season is shaping up to be the worst year of Eddie O’Leary’s life. He can’t manage to hit the ball, his new teammates hate him, he’s living out of a suitcase, and he’s homesick. When the team’s owner orders him to give a bunch of interviews to some snobby reporter, he’s ready to call it quits. He can barely manage to behave himself for the length of a game, let alone an entire season. But he’s already on thin ice, so he has no choice but to agree.

Joel, as always gets 5 stars because his narration is always impeccable. But once again, this author has left me fizzled out and left wanting. While I was expecting a nice comforting romance, I just ended up being bored by the repetitiveness. It was basically the same scenes repeated with different lines. At the apartment, at a hotel, on the road. At a ballpark. All talking in circles about the same things. There was just nothing to break up the monotony and by the end I didn’t care which made me sad.

Moving to London is scary and daunting, but I desperately need this job–and a redo. Okay, so I may have oversold my qualifications. That shouldn’t be a big deal, though. I mean, being an assistant’s assistant seems easy enough, and I’m a fast learner. Hold up! I’m already in over my head with spreadsheets, new pronunciations, and temperamental appliances.

I don’t experience attraction the way most folks do, but as our friendship grows, I can’t deny I want him. It’s my first time with a man. Every brush of his skin against mine makes me feel things I hadn’t thought possible. I didn’t know intimacy could be like this. I could spend a lifetime kissing him, but for us to have any chance at a future, we’ll both have to face truths we’ve tried to ignore for too long.

Felt like I was in 7th grade science class…
Reviewed: 03-08-24
You know those educational videos they showed us in school in science class in the US when our teachers were hungover or just done with life, and the narrator was joyfully describing the process of digestion like we should be really excited about it? That’s how Nick Russo’s narration of Charles sounds in this audio. I kept waiting for him to start talking about the miracle of molecules or the wonder of the nervous system.
Besides that, he did great for Brian and when any emotion was shown. The story itself didn’t hold up from my first eyeball read but I am still happy to read Brian’s HEA.

Good narrator for a rough story.
Reviewed: 02-27-24
I tend to not leave a review of a book in an audio review because I’d like to give the narrator as much credit as possible regardless of how bad the book is. This book… is trauma porn. It has a lot of issues in the storytelling and blurb and content warning inaccurate. For those who need CW/TW, there is multiple on page suicide attempts and several scenes of on page physical abuse of an MC.
But the narrator is great. He’s new to me and I’m pretty picky, so despite not enjoying this very depressing story, I enjoyed listening to him.
