Story
Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids. Because everyone in the Mobile Infantry fights. And if the training doesn’t kill you, the Bugs are more than ready to finish the job.

i really like how the author did a Previously on at the start of each new book. Im so bummed there is nothing more past book 13.
the story is enthralling. How the characters moved from crisis to crisis was done smoothly. The characters were vivid. I enjoyed every second.

Story
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

The amount of times I've been scrolling thru my library for something to listen to, and overlooked this title..... I'm kicking myself in the ass. figured this would be just another Zombie story cliche and worn. How wrong I was. All of the movie references had my dying. especially Army of Darkness and Boondock Saints. so many and well timed. I didn't want to stop listening and am sad it's over. I can't recommend this title enough. This author straight Killed it. The narrator did a great job to. I feel like he could have done better when adding, or usually not adding, inflection, emphasis, and emotion.

Separated as a child from his family, Theo has always had a feeling that he’s made for something bigger than the suburban life he seems to be headed for. When a bully threatens his best friend, he can’t help but step in the way. The problem is that Theo’s just not much of a fighter. Bruised and broken, Theo wakes up to a massive headache and what appears to be floating game text inviting him to become a dragon. While ludicrous, no matter how often he rejects the prompt, it simply returns. Knowing that his life can’t get any worse, he finally accepts...

I'll admit its a great story. It kept me interested until the reading of the stat sheet. Way too much way too often. The damage notifications were also a bit much.
I can't help but feel this is a rip off of the Battleborn series by Dave Willmarth. Too many things. Snarky respone when TK shot a bow for the first time. King Teeglan???? Come on man.
All if that aside it's still a rivetting story that will keep you entertained. It is certaily worth a listen.

Mr Salvatore never fails to deliver. While i couldn't imagine listening to these stories without hearing Victor Bevine. I appreciate the different voices given to each character, but i wish he would use more emotion and inflections. Don't get me wrong, he did a great job. This book is a fire-cracker but could have been an anti-matter bomb. Which sadly applies to all of the other books.

I was shocked, I was angry, I was enthralled. I'd go so far as to say there was a nice justice boner too. the story so far is FANTASTIC, and Nick Podehl did so well at bringing the story to life. There are so many characters and so many voices. I know the description doesn't match, but whenever Jova has dialog, I can't help but envision Android 18 from DBZ/Super. the voice given to her makes it strange to view with my minds eye.

If you're curious whether you want to spend a credit for this story it is absolutely worth it. the best part being all of the books in one package.
