Story
You know who your competitors are. You keep tabs on them regularly, and can list them calmly, along with their strengths and weaknesses. But your enemies are a whole other matter. They’re the haters and the doubters who said you’d never make it, the ones who stomped on your dreams. When you think about your enemies, you get emotional. You feel like you won’t let anything—or anyone—stop you.

as a 54-year-old man who has been. In touch with his inter-self for most of his life, I can honestly say this woman has a very skewed perception of what men really want. I don’t know what her case study pool is, but she definitely does not hang around the kind of man that I know. This was a waste of time for me.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

if you're looking for a very real perspective on life and even some secrets to unlock your own personal drive (even if you think you already have) this book is for you.
Matthew is as real as real gets. for me, I have always been drawn to people who are comfortable in their own skin, regardless of their race, religion, financial status, Etc. None of that matters to me. What matters to me is people who are real. He is very real, but more importantly to me he has her natural way of finding the positive perspective in life.
For example, we all have challenges from life, many of us feel Challenge from childhood, it's easy to blame parents for being perfect, Matthew celebrates the imperfections his parents shared. probably Dependable of this example is when he explains his annual family reunions in Texas. Most people would just say it was an amazing time and we love getting together. He tells you what family reunions are really like, full of emotion out of every end of the scale, but finding the good in this overall is what matters.
I've never cared about meeting movie stars, but it would be an honor to run into this guy on the street and just tell him thank you for being real and sharing what I consider to be valuable information to me.
Listening to Matthew McConaughey tell you example after example of what it means to persist in life and find joy in the journey, green light!

Russ Harris offers a surprising solution to low self-confidence, shyness, and insecurity: Rather than trying to "get over" our fears, he says, the secret is to form a new and wiser relationship with them. Paradoxically, it's only when we stop struggling against our fearfulness that we begin to find lasting freedom from it.

fantastic book! Tells the truth, no hype here.
Reviewed: 10-22-20
throughout the book the author is consistent with telling factual information that you can test yourself, in fact he encourages it. This is not a quick fix, marketing you for a dollar, type of book. This teaches principles that should resonate with you as being true and some you might be learning for the first time but most are things that we already know. I highly recommend this book!

whether you think you have BPD or not, or someone you care about, this book helps with diagnosis as well as prognosis and incredible solutions to dealing with this disorder. I was diagnosed with BPD earlier this year and have been trying to understand it better all year long, but nothing has come close to the simple and clear and accurate explanations from this book. I am incorporating this in my life and it will help me make substantial progress in coping with my disorder. What a breath of Hope that came from this book! I have hope and true belief that I will have success the rest of my life by improving my relationships with friends family and in my career. I'm not a Pollyanna type person, and I don't believe that any medication or a book like this will cause BPD to go away, but there are so many ways that these things help cope with the disorder and make life better in the meantime.
