Story
Life doesn't always go according to plan. For ex-CIA Agent Samuel Caulfield, his plans were ripped out from under him after a chance encounter in a firefight. One deal with a dark goddess later, and he's cast into the trenches of a Victorian world, with clashing empires, Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, and more. Surrounded by death, on the front lines of a war without intelligence, he'll have to rely on his wits, his platoon, and a surprise gift from his goddess.

Interesting premise, an new universe to explore, and some seriously good voice narration
Reviewed: 06-05-23
If you wanted to distill this book down to its most basic pieces, it’s “the summoned hero” meets “typical anime harem fanfic.” There is not a lot new to be found here in the way of original concepts or material, but pretentiousness aside, it’s a fun story that moves quickly, and a great introduction to a universe where gods use mortals to fight wars on far off worlds. I look forward to the next one.
The true hero of this book is the narrator though! Melanie Hastings is absolutely on-point with her various accents, tones, and sultry delivery of our hero’s diverse coterie of potential and realized partners.
A.D. Krabis wrote the book, but Ms. Hastings brought it to life! I will definitely be picking up new books in this series as they appear!

Story
The only favor the aliens do for Clint Beecham when they abduct him is give him a shirt that says "Do Not Eat" on it in their language. He’s told that as a physicist, he is to be reserved, along with five other scientists, for a mysterious purpose. But 50,000 other humans on board the interstellar scout ship are scheduled to be butchered and frozen, a food supply for the long journey to the alien homeworld. Clint and the other Reserves can’t stand by and let that happen.

Good story made amazing by narration

I do not think I have laughed this hard at an audio book… ever. The story is good, if not a lot too short, but Luke Daniels narration was some of the best I have ever heard, if for no other reason than it sounds like he had a lot of fun recording it. His accents are impeccable! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

THIS is why I choose audiobooks

To be direct, Ray Porters narration of this delicious piece of science fiction from Andy Weir is nothing short of mindblowingly excellent.
Everything I want to praise in this book would be spoilers for those who have not had the chance to enjoy it yet. So please, just know that the writing is on par with, or better than The Martian, and the voice acting should be winning awards.

Story
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Neil Gaiman weaves tales of the Norse Gods, deftly paying homage to the original stories, while adding his style and shine to it. And then the narrator, Neil Gaiman... It is a treat to get to hear the author narrate his own work... no one does it better.

Story
Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Sometimes History can be fun!
Reviewed: 10-01-18
Bill Bryson's opus on the history of the history of the world. This book is very well written, and the narration can be a bit dry in places, but it is British, so what would you expect? Bryson and Matthews have woven an intensely intelligent and illuminating story of how it all happened, starting back a few billion years ago, and coming forward, often highlighting the real heroes of science, demystifying complicated theorems, and calling out all of the interesting bits.
I am not doing this title any justice... Let me say it this way... If you like history, if you like to understand the why's and how's of it all, this is your book!
