Story
Stepping off the train in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, Elizabeth Hamilton is filled with relief, nerves, and the thrill of hope. Life on her dear friend’s ranch will be very different than Gilded Age Boston’s high society. But at least here, Elizabeth is far from her spiteful sister-in-law and the bittersweet memories of her late fiancé.
Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait - not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Yet there’s something in her mix of courage and compassion that won’t let Nick quit.

This book is the first in the Montana Sky Series, and after finishing it, I will be listening to the future books in the series. Its about a young debutante from Boston who goes west following a dear friend she grew up with who went to Montana, married and had children. Gradually, she grows into a young woman in Montana and discovers her soulmate (my words, not the books)!

Northern Minnesota in the Late 1800's
Reviewed: 11-09-22
This set of stories are set in Northern Minnesota which I enjoyed as a Minnesota native. I don't think the author did enough research on the climate of Northern Minnesota; a couple of the stories included winter time settings. Weather in that latitude would have temps of 20° to 25° Farenheit with snow-covered ground that would preclude camping on the ground and be very hard to travel by coach in the late 1800's. I set that aside for this review and only took off 1 star from my rating.

I liked the story line, but I found the self talk - character thoughts expressed at length became tiresome. However, that won't stop me from reading Book 2 as soon as it becomes available in audible format! I searched for it, but I realized that this book just came out this year - 2021. Hurry, please! 😀

Well written and full of hope

Narrator added to the storytelling. It was sad to hear the graphic depiction of the store keepers death and then hear this really happened. It brings home the fact that this time period of our country's past was dangerous.
