endless readings of reviews & long summaries of movie & tv plots. seems like an attempt to cash in on RW rather than a serious bio. Narrator refers to "Marin" County at least 50 times, always pronouncing it wrong. (accent should be on SECOND syllable). but lots of good quotes from a true genius!

As both a scientist and a keeper of native wisdom, the author helps us understand the history and ecology of this land. Lots of insights into botany and biology but also parenting and compassion. Thank you!!!!

Father son chats about their lives and their basketball careers. Very informal and loose conversations with lots of behind-the-scenes stories & insights. Mom & Mugsy and others make appearances - all good people. An easy feel-good listen!

Powerful true story of one girl's survival of the Armenian Genocide

As the Ottoman Empire crumbled, Christian minorities were massacred. David Kherdian's mother was a little Armenian girl in Western Turkey. Kherdian brilliantly tells her story through her own voice, with lots of detail bringing the family and the horrors of Genocide to life. Ultimately, this is a story of the triumph of love and hope and courage. Adriana Sevan is magnificent in narrating this book. She nails the accents and cadences of speech I remember from my own Armenian grandmother and other survivors of the Genocide of Christians in the early twentieth century. Thank you David Kherdian for helping us understand what happened so that we never forget!

The Rushing family has an amazing and uplifting story of dreams, betrayal, destruction and, ultimately, transplanting themselves into new dreams in a new loving community. You will want to shake their hands & hug all of them! Di writes well. I only wish she had narrated the book herself. Well worth your time!

book is excellent and the narration is fine except that he reads all the dang footnotes - very very distracting. writers use footnotes precisely because they are NOT part of the narrative flow. Any academic can look at the paper text for footnote info, if they are interested.Audible should NOT narrate footnotes or at least allow listeners a choice instead of ruining the book with distracting irritations! Are you going to read the index and the table of contents too???

A fascinating book. I would prefer that narrators not "do accents" of real people, especially famous real people whose genuine accents listeners know (or used to know before listening to the fake accents for hours.) Mr. Hillgartner was fine but would have been better using only his own voice. The fake accents were so annoying I had to switch to print.
