Captivatingly haunting....

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

I'm somewhat of a horror buff and this book's content description caught my eye. I was not disappointed by a long shot! The narrator's voice was perfect for the subject matter and kept me riveted to the spot to hear what happened next. This guy would be a hit around a late night camp fire. I enjoyed the pull-no-punches gory scenes and the boy's tenacity for survival. A great read.

I did like this book and the narration, but felt that it could have been better too.For instance, from the mother's point of view it seems like she never talked to the husband.Even the way she reacted when their troubles in the Congo went too far was weird and readers are left to wonder on their own if she ever said the slightest bit to this man who basically forced them to stay in that place beyond what was safe.Really irritating.

Fever Dream

I enjoyed this book's humor and the narration of it.I like how the two main characters are as different as night and day,but good friends despite the mishaps they get into during cases.I found the mystery surrounding the wife deep and really had to pay close attention to what that was about, once it was revealed because it was a little confusing at first.I'll definitely look for more books from these two authors.

I have always admired these two people and was glad to find something from them on Audible. One never hears anything about them in the media and you kind of have to hunt down anything about them.I liked how both of them told their story together.I did get a little lost during the part about Ruby's first miscarriage, but chalked it up to the times of that era.My favorite part was when they spoke of marriage and staying together for a long time.Truly words to live by,with practice!

I'm about to go ghost-hunting and needed straight-forward,direct info about that realm.Despite it's short length,I found this book informative and also inspiring.I can tell the author is for real,as a lot of what he mentions matches things I have experienced.I'd definitely buy more of his books.

I liked how this book read like a TV drama. The narrator did a good job of switching his voice tone for the characters. The plot was easy to follow and the "good cop,bad cop" part was a real page turner.

I can't say that I have any complaints about this book.I liked how the narrator was able to do different dialects. It gave the book reading more depth. I'm definitely getting The Skin Gods next.

A build up to nothing

The first half of this book was fine, however when it got to the 2nd part,it went all off track.Names were just suddenly dropped and it seemed like 2 different plots were going on at the same time, yet it was not clarified who the characters were in the story. For instance, who the heck is Ian? Also it was unclear why Serge had to run to L.A. he read a letter to himself and was on a plane the next minute.I'm thru with Serge books.

Sappy and crappy

I downloaded this book expecting a real gritty survivor,do or die story. What came out was a slow-moving concentration camp type of tale. When they tarted up this young girl and threw her at the boy like a prostitute, that did it for me.I pulled the plug on this dud quick.

For the most part,I did like this book but sometimes it was hard to tell the humans from the cows.I mean, was the boss herding people along side the cows and feeding them to people too? That's what I gathered at times, but the writing was a bit blurry in its descriptions.
