Beautiful, lush imagery and a heartfelt story. The narrator is amazing - I looked forward to his voice and wonderful Irish accent.

Wonderful on all counts! Such an uplifting story with a great plot twist in the middle. I looked forward to reading each chapter and was sorry it ended, although the author didn’t leave any loose ends.

This book is so appropriate for the times - a thoughtful, sensitive approach to a hostage-taking situation with a creative twist. I dreaded, yet couldn’t wait to hear how Patchett would handle the inevitable end, and although sad, it was realistically well-done. The situations and characters in this book will stay with me for a long time.

The author and narrator put listeners gently into Christina’s shoes. The rich descriptions and insights into her life as well as “Andy” Wyeth’s career give the reader a deeper background into how he created his paintings. I won’t look at his art again without thinking of this book. Wonderful.

This story draws on books like Water For Elephants in the worst way. It is written in a juvenile tone, to the extent I thought it was a YA, that is, until I got to the unnecessary violence and cruelty to a young girl and animals. Despite other reviews affirming the book never got better, I stuck with it to the end, which was sad and trite. I don’t trust this author enough to read another book by her.

As with all of Anne Hillerman’s books, this was a great story with a strong female lead. The descriptions of the landscapes were great, as was the inclusion of Navajo history and culture. The narration was good, with just a few mispronunciations only locals would notice.

This book was fast-paced and laced with historical information about women’s involvement in the Spanish-American war and archaeology in Greece. Betsy is a terrific role model of a woman who inadvertently pitches in to help as a field nurse and ends up successfully shouldering far more than she thought herself capable. The romances woven throughout are sweet. Narration was terrific!

I loved the weave of the fashion industry and geeky but high level knowledge of trivia. Throughout, the self-deprecating humor and delicious descriptions of food added to the fun of the book. So glad all loose ends were tied up. Narration was terrific!
