Story
It was an offer too good to refuse: spend one month in the most haunted house in the world. When the reclusive owner of Duskwood Manor opens the door to five teams of paranormal investigators, there's no way my team can say no. But there are no ghosts here. There are monsters. They live under my bed, in my closet, and watch me from the shadows, whispering filthy visions in my ear at night. Begging me to come with them to their world—the Void, where the monsters roam free . . . where they teach me what it really means to want.

DNF. It was too weird for me. Multiple monsters…Inst-lust with non-human body parts… might have been able to make it further if the author had built more plot earlier on. almost no character building before all the weird sex scenes started. Barely any story or explanation of the world/void being introduced-at least up to the point when I gave up.

Story
I experience a pull so deep and so undeniable, that when I look up and meet the eyes of a waitress, our gazes lock. Recognition sparks between us. In an instant, I’m sure. This woman is mine. I can tell my parents sense the connection, too. But judging by their expressions, they know something I don’t. Like me, they’re aware she’s special. But the fear in their eyes tells me she’s the last person on Earth they want to be my mate...

Narration was ok. Some good characters and angst at the beginning. However, the longer it went on, the more I started hating the characters…I mean ALL of them. The FL is a doormat. The ML is a lying spineless prick. Several HUGE plot holes show up, seemingly to keep the FL stuck in a relationship with the ML. And I really, really hate when an author keeps a villain around by way of stupid characters…ie: “he’s a known serial killer but maybe I’ll just catch and release him and it’ll be fine.” Ugh. I stopped reading when I started hoping the FL would lose her mind for good and burn everything and everyone to the ground and run off with all her money…then I remember I don’t like her either. Doormat. Oh and wtf with the weirdly timed sex scenes (steamy yes but at odd times just ruins the mood).

The fae queen has been making her own plans, none of which involve us surviving the next ten days. When we can't seem to stay ahead of her magic or her mercenaries, the only chance to save the people I love is a potentially deadly gamble—where a single mistake could bring disaster not only for us but for every Idrian refugee on Earth.

It was a great story, very entertaining. The characters are really well done. Some sad, some funny parts. No steam but there’s a romance story built in there. Love love love the narrator.

We are all and nothing now, our fate weighed on the scales of the stars and counterbalanced by the forces that oppose us. The shadow of the false king spreads as thick as oil across the kingdom we were born to rule, and none remain untouched by its darkness. Our crowns lay within reach if only we can claim them. All souls are at risk now and when the final battle dawns, a new regime will rise.

Story
Perched between branches and shadows, we watch, we scheme, fighting for a kingdom forgotten and forlorn. Until we rip her away with our claws, our prisoner, our pawn, our plaything. She’s innocent and pure, fragile and helpless…but oh so guilty by blood. She calls us beasts, wicked and evil, vicious and cruel. We are all that and worse. One of us offers her shelter beneath his wings, whispering promises of pleasure, seeking redemption. The other longs to shatter her into a million pieces, whispering promises of pain, seeking revenge.

Trigger warning ‼️
Reviewed: 04-23-24
Wow. A very dark and intense book. I wish there had been a trigger warning at the start of the story to prepare me for just how dark this book gets. There is war and r&pe throughout the whole book. The MMC repeatedly SA’s the FMC. And the FMC is so emotionally neglected that she convinces herself SA is love. Which is pretty wrong. So if that’s your kind of romance story, this book is for you. That being said, I loved the cliffhanger and I’m buying book two… I’m hoping the author breaks from trend and writes a book where the FMC gets so strong she burns them all to the ground and lives happily ever after on her own 🤣. I just can’t see how I’d find “love” between these characters believable in the next book.

Trigger ‼️ warning
Reviewed: 04-23-24
Just like the first, there is much r&pe throughout this book. A strong trigger warning should be stated at the beginning. There is a lot of character development of the MMCs, basically saying he was sort of possessed when he did all the terrible things to the FMC in book one so that helps some I guess… You definitely don’t feel uplifted at the end of the story… wrung out emotionally so there was some good writing in there. But oy, so much darkness.

Story
As the daughter of a traveling chef, I grew up flitting around different galaxies, immersing myself in fascinating cultures, and rubbing noses with socialites. Coming to Krynn was a new chapter, a permanent place to finally call home. But when tragedy strikes and I’m suddenly alone, broke, and desperate, I take work at a dyaan. An establishment where the Kylorr—blood-drinking, winged, fearsome aliens with berserker-like rages—come to feed on willing necks to satisfy their fierce hunger.

I enjoyed this story. Like many of her other works, there was good romance and plenty of steam. Some angst and a relatable female lead keep you hooked in the story even if the plot was predictable.

I liked that it was a boxed set. Had trouble getting into the story and relating to the characters. There was an opportunity for humor with the FL not recognizing objects and things in the new world but it just fell flat. I think the narrator made things seem more awkward and stilted than it would have felt if I was reading it maybe? And I didn’t love the male narrator either. It gets better as it goes along. But I much prefer this authors other trilogy.

When I died, the shifters' humanity died with me. Even though Tuslan managed to bring me back only seconds after the darkness consumed me, he and the others still went savage. Now I have to figure out a way to bind myself and my magic back to everyone in Tendira—including the shifters who legitimately killed me. It won't be easy, but at least Tuslan's with me. In his furry form.
