I do not normally read memoirs or biographies because I am generally not that interested in the lives of people who have no direct impact on my life. But this is different for me because I actually like this person and want to know what and how they feel about their life as opposed to what has been written by those who do not know them and will write anything said to them by their enemies. This is very well written and evokes many feelings from joy to horror at how he and his have been treated.

I purchased the audio, kindle, and hardback versions of this because I wanted one for display, and the others to read. I have to recommend that you listen to this book as I did and followed along with my kindle. It is one thing to read the words but a completely different one to hear the author of those words actually speak them. You get the feeling behind the words and the thoughts that formed them. Also, we find out that the author is very good at invoking other voices, particularly an American accent.

The story starts on a rather low note after the death of his grandfather and a meeting with his family. He then moves into the start of his tale as he remembers it and relates how he was first informed of the death of his mother and moves through time giving us a look at his life through his eyes and how he felt and was treated by those both in his family and on the outside of it who felt that he was their pawn to be moved and abused. He moves through the whole of his life including the most recent events, which is where we conclude.

This was much more than I expected since I thought it would be a much softer look at things. I am glad that this answered questions and actually confirmed a lot that had been observed by many in the world. The formatting is also nicely done though most times I do not like a lot of short chapters they worked in this instance to break things up in a way that allowed you to reflect on things as they were presented. I enjoyed it and encourage others to give it a read, and highly recommend the audio.

"Bubba and the Ten Little Loonies", 4.5 stars. Bubba is planning his wedding to Willodean when trouble comes looking for him. David, the purple Singapore sling, comes to Bubba and says that there has been a murder at the asylum and that he needs his help to solve it. Bubba goes in not believing it is really murder but as things progress he starts to take it more seriously.
This was different from all the other books because Bubba ended up in an isolated location with a lot of new characters with some interesting personality traits. The mystery is good though a bit easy to figure out. I liked that was based on a story I have always liked and watched in all its iterations.

I really liked this story and the relationship between the sisters. This had my attention from the beginning to the end and I loved everything in between. The characters are very good and have so much personality that you cannot help but be drawn to them and what is going on. This is just a great read!

I like true ghost stories most of the time and some of these were not bad. My issue is more with the delivery because while I get someone wanting to read their own book they should think about how it comes across. The read is very low-key and sonorous, which can be good for some places in the story but not all.

This collection of stories has been put together by Simon B. Murik who comes from a long line of mediums. Many of the stories are personal encounters while others are from family members and those who have had paranormal experiences such as friends and acquaintances.

Was this scary? No. Did it create an interesting atmosphere? Yes. Was it Spooky? Yes. Worth a listen and a read/listen to the others in the series.

I love a good haunted house story and I have to say that Carrie Bates always offers me something interesting in her haunted homes. The backstory is always very tragic and makes you sympathetic to the plight of those caught within its walls. While the characters are good they are not totally fleshed out like I would like them to be, but that is of course just my preference. The description of the town both in the past and present is a little thin but adequate for the amount of time spent talking about it.

Mercer House is the perfect spot for Chef Lindsey to start her restaurant, or so she thinks. The house has a dark history that would cause anyone to take pause, if they knew about it. What happened on Halloween years ago has left a stain that may not go away. Lindsey's dream soon turns into a nightmare as strange things start to occur that not only affect her but her staff. And as Halloween approaches things only become worse and she must either fight or lose everything she has worked for.

This was entertaining and gave me a bit of a fright at the end, though I kind of saw it coming.

What happened on LV 426

I totally enjoyed listening to this. It is exceptionally well written if you know the story that it was taken from and expanded upon. I like that the story of what happens on the planet and the story told in the second movie are linked. The characters that we never really got to know are very well fleshed out and it lends a whole new dimension to the story and how things play out off stage.

The story is set mainly on Acheron, LV 426 the moon that Ripley and her crew set down on all those years ago and found a species so deadly they were all wiped out except for her. They go back to the establishing of the colony with the birth of Rebecca 'Newt' Jordan and her family as the center of a lot of the action. We get an insight into the company and how they use and manipulate the colonists for their own gain as they establish themselves.

Good listen from start to finish and held me more than ready to delve into more. Worth taking the time for.

This is one of these things that you start off not sure if you will like and then find yourself all in on. This was very much like the radio shows of the 30's in a lot of ways. The characters were really good and fun to listen too and that comes down to great voices behind the characters. The story was very well done with just the right amount of highs and lows to keep you following along and waiting for that next little gem.

Enjoy this wonderful play with some wonderful actors bringing it to life!

Sweet and Loving tribute to fathers

This is a sweet tribute to fathers and sons. The poem is lovely and I both listened and read it so I could see the beautiful illustrations of benches and the fathers and sons who inhabit them. This was something I would have liked to have said to the father of my children, that he is so much more important than the world sometimes gives him credit for. Very inclusive with fathers from all walks of life and places around the globe.

My dad wanted a boy and ended up having girls. We knew because we were taught to hunt, fish, camp, love sports (both playing and watching), and generally to be independent. I think this sentiment works just as well for those fathers who had girls because they are all the things we see here for us too. I enjoyed listening because you can feel the emotion in her voice as she reads it and that makes it special that she shares this.

I think this will be cherished by parents and children as something they want to hear at storytime because it can bring them closer. Just my take on things. Give it a read!

This was a short that kept my attention and had me actually smiling and laughing from start to finish. The premise was good and I like that I did not even see the ending coming when I probably should have.

Neil and Jewel did a great job and maybe they will team up again if they have not already.

This was something different from my usual reads but it did give me good vibes. I have only watched a couple of episodes of the show but did enjoy them. The characters are very vivid and well-drawn making what happens to them much more meaningful. I followed the story here much better than on the show maybe because it is a little better laid out with only a couple of characters to contend with.

Tourmaline Larou is living an idyllic life, spending her time learning by day and partying by night. She is an aspiring poet with nothing less than brilliance in her future. When Vignette Stonemoss walks into her life things are upended and may never be the same again for either of them. Their world is turned upside down as they are being threatened by humans who look down on them and the fae world as a whole. War is on the horizon, and their very existence is at stake.

Tourmaline will discover whether love will save her or destroy her.

Karla Crome does a great job of narrating the story and bring the characters to life. I would recommend this as a quick listen that will add to your day while doing some
