Story
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Masterful and gritty.
Reviewed: 09-23-16
McCarthy captures the bitter feuds and harshness of the American west as only he can. A no holds barred telling of a story of violence and growth in a hard world. Vivid landscapes come to life before the reader's eyes as one can nearly feel the heat of the desert and the parched throat of the pilgrim. An absolute necessity to the library of any McCarthy fan, or any enthusiast of western expansion who would like a fresh and breathtaking perspective of the turbulent west.

Story
In his critically acclaimed Armageddon, Hastings detailed the last twelve months of the struggle for Germany. Here, in what can be considered a companion volume, he covers the horrific story of the war against Japan. By the summer of 1944 it was clear that Japan’s defeat was inevitable, but how the drive to victory would be achieved remained to be seen. The ensuing drama–that ended in Japan’s utter devastation–was acted out across the vast stage of Asia.
