Story
I’m in trouble. A quick and dirty hookup with the hunky mechanic I just met is bad enough. But when that God-like twenty-year-old turns out to be a student in my English class, I know it’s about to get much worse. Pax Smith isn’t just the star player on the rugby team at Florence U and the hottest man I’ve ever been with. He also has a dark sordid past, and it’s written in the deep scars all over his face.

Story
Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn’t need any more kinks. She likes the one she’s landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

Cut the Epilogue
Reviewed: 12-31-24
The book starts off slower than I had expected. There were moments of cringe, like I expect in a dark romance, even a comedic one, and there were moments of laughter. Honestly, though, I think more of the laughter was due to the male narrator’s delivery than the writing. I enjoyed the book, until the unnecessarily long and wholly forgettable epilogue. Thankfully, the narrators brought their A game!

Story
Angry. Wild. Loose cannon. As one of college hockey's most feared defensemen, I've been told I'm all those things and more. The ice is the only place where I can take my anger out on other people and get applauded for it. The rougher I play, the dirtier I am, the more praise I get. I suppose the same could be said about me in the bedroom. I'm not the dude you want your daughter bringing home to meet you. Because your angel? Well, I'll make sure her halo is crooked by the time I'm done with her. I've met my match.

Story
Women throw themselves at me, hoping I'll take them home that night. Whispers from the NHL say I'm the one to watch. And the weight of each game is on my shoulders because if our opposing team scores… that's on me. All the things that keep me up at night are probably someone else's dreams. From the moment I saw Ryann Denver in my Business 101 class, I was intrigued and determined to get to know her. Unlike most girls at Brooks, she hates athletes. When I introduced myself to her, she made it perfectly clear that she was not interested.

This was definitely story of the series. I’m so glad the narrators continued on throughout because it made the transitions smooth and allowed the story to take center stage. In this case, it worked out perfectly!

Story
As my best friend's baby sister, an actual angel sent from above, Haley Thompson is forbidden fruit, and I should stay away from her. Because everything I touch turns to crap. But like all things I'm not supposed to do, chasing her is another temptation I'm not strong enough to avoid. When I spiral down, hitting my lowest point, I know I can't take her with me. Innocent, sweet souls like her, they don't belong at the bottom. The trouble is, she refuses to let go of me. Even if it will ruin her. Even if I will ruin her.

Honest Treatment of Addiction
Reviewed: 12-19-24
While I’ll admit there were elements of this book that weren’t my thing and tropes that I don’t generally like. I might have even skipped out on it because of them, but the author pulled me in with the way she authentically portrayed the MMCs addiction without the judgment that often underpins these portrayals. It was well done.

When my parents took me to a hockey camp as a kid, they never dreamed it would take me off the path of becoming a doctor, like everyone else in the family. Unfortunately for them, the moment I stepped into that arena and onto that ice, there was no going back.

Tate Tracy is about to find out that I'm not the nice boy anymore. Nor am I a forgiving person. She might have been my best friend for eighteen years, but now, she's no one. And if I have to remind her of that, I will. Even if we're going to be stuck living in an apartment… together. The trouble is, I've only ever had one weakness in life. And it's Tate Tracy.

Story
From a young age, the only thing in life I've ever taken seriously is hockey. I'm not the guy anyone—besides family and teammates—can count on. This is all true. At least, until a certain curly-haired, blue-eyed goddess comes to me looking for an easy hookup. And hook her up I do. But what's supposed to be a one-night stand doesn't stop at one night. What's meant to be easy sure as hell gets complicated fast. It becomes clear that Addison LaConte is just as much my savior as she is my demise.

Story
I’m wealthy, powerful, and able to get any woman I want. So why do I feel so empty inside? In search of a deeper me, I take a sabbatical from my privileged life. One year of backpacking around Europe: a new identity, no contacts, and no money. Not a bad plan, I think. Until I get there. A crowded hostel room, body odor, and beer bongs—there are no words for the fresh hell I’ve landed in. But amid the chaos, I meet my new roommate, Hayden Whitmore. She sleeps in the bed opposite me, and I openly admit to staring at her more than I sleep.

Moments of okayness
Reviewed: 11-09-24
There were parts I really enjoyed and parts didn’t. Normally, the narration could help tip a book more into the positive, but I spent half the book disliking the male narration. The timing and cadence were way off and distracting.
