What did you like best about Lure? What did you like least?
I liked the story line and concept and enjoyed the humor but found it hard to like the characters. The main character is an ex cop, had been a cop for a number of years, suposedly a good one, but she has no common sense.and drinks herself into a stupor at parties she can't remember most nights.Drinking and the stupidity that comes of it seems to be a main theme. Her best friend is even worse and has no ability to keep her mouth shut in any situation. there are some very funny scenes but these girls do not learn from their mistakes. the story is good enough to keep me rlistening, but I keep wanting to yell at "Shells" to Shut up! I know this is the start of a series, but I really have to enjoy the characters to commit to a series. If you like drunken revelry and stupidity, this is your book. It keeps my attention enough to finish it,which is why it has 3 stars. but that is the best I can say..

There are so many ways this could have been a formula romance, predictable and pleasant, but not great. Instead Bitch Factor suprised me at every turn. Great characters. As soon as I finished it I immediately bought the other two books by this author. The reader does a competant job. I highly recomend this book! I hope there will be more books by this author.

Story
Bo Tully is the sheriff of Blight County, Idaho, where law enforcement is usually pretty mundane: tracking down truants running away from school, picking up country boys who've had a few too many beers. But Tully gets a little more than the country norm when an ex-con calls with the startling news that there's a corpse draped across one of his fences.

The caracters in this book are just that..characters, and I hated to see the book end. I loved the way this author handled profanity, humorously with out actually using it.
Some books have way to may four letter words for my taste. When this book was over, I hurried to audible to see if there were any more books by this author about these folks and was very disapointed not to find any.

Story
Escape is a classic encounter between the forces of good and evil in human form that asks, and answers, questions of how to deal with supposedly "God-inspired" acts of murder and mayhem. In a riveting trial of garish courtroom confrontations, newly elected New York District Attorney Karp battles the "insanity of the insanity defense", as he tries to make Jessica Campbell, a rabble-rousing political science professor at NYU, pay for the murder of her three children. While Campbell claims that God told her to "send her three children to Him," it is up to Karp to prove that she was fully aware of the nature and consequences of her actions.

I really wanted this to be better

I like long unabridged books. I like series and Have really enjoyed the characters in the Tanenbaum books in the past. This is the second book with the new ghost writer that I have read and the second time I have been disappointed. (look up Robert K Tanenbaum on the web if you don't know the story)
It is not that the book is bad, it isn't. It is ok and I didn't want to quit listening. The reader is fine, not great but not bad. The story moves very very slowly because the author starts the action and then tells the character's backstory and then continues the action.
Once a character mentions an event he says happened "yesterday" and I thought that is seemed like weeks, not one day, due to all of the backstory and unrelated stuff stuck in.
Also. where are the characters I had really enjoyed in the past?
The twins are barely there.
Marlene shows up briefly.
Lucy, my favorite character, is there with no detail or depth, just skimmed over.
I won't say don't read this. Just be warned.
I am not sure I will buy another Tanenbaum book, and that is a shame, from a former fan.
Instead I think I will look up the former ghost writer's books and buy them.
