Story
For 300 years, Sister Autumn has incited wars, burnt villages, killed kings, and released plagues at the bidding of the grimoire. When an order from the grimoire sends Agatha to the Kingdom of Merveille, she already anticipates the worst. Unless she wants to face the wrath of the Goddess, Agatha must keep her head down and do as she's commanded. But when the grimoire orders her to marry a pompous prince and play the role of a peasant "accepted" by vicious aristocrats, she finds herself at the center of a war between the classes and an age-old prophecy.

Interesting
Reviewed: 01-11-23
I enjoyed it foe what it is. It's got hints of other such stories such as Scarlet Pimpernell mixed in, but overall it is it's own. Frankie Porter is a fantastic narrator when she settles into the story, but Daniel Fallon is a chore to listen to. He sounds as though someone held him at gunpoint and he's only reading it to get through it. Every time Grimm's section comes up I want to switch to the Kindle version just so that it's not entirely ruined. He was the worst part. There's also the typical frustration of Grimm and Agatha's lack of communication at first. It's one of those moments of contention when the two characters would have come together sooner if they had just communicated with each other in the beginning instead of attempting to drive each other away. I will read the second, especially since this one left on such a cliff hanger, but I seriously hope they get a new narrator for Grimm. There are so many fantastic male narrators out there that I'm sad they chose Daniel Fallon.

Story
Suddenly thrown into a world representing bloodlines I know nothing about, forcing a past I refuse to remember into the present, my world is turned upside down. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t want to go to college; it doesn’t matter that I don’t want to be here. I’ll follow the rules or risk my life. The organization that runs the criminal underworld is no joke.

Super Cringey
Reviewed: 02-19-22
I had some severe issues with the main character. She was almost so unlikable I almost stopped reading this multiple times. Even some of the other characters were so horrible I couldn't stomach it. Every single person is super hot and every man seems to thing Luna is some kind of perfect creature, even if she's an angry human being who is horrible to every person she meets, except for Jessica who happens to be the breath of fresh air in this book. The concept is so Twilight meets Hunger Games with some polyamorous sex thrown in. The sex scenes are some of the most realistic I've ever heard, some would say too graphic, but that's what I prefer. It's just Luna. She started to get better towards the end, which is the only reason I bothered finishing it.

Story
My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

A First For Me
Reviewed: 02-15-22
These are new authors to me. The entire story was unique from what im used to, and I know many say it resembles another story, but not in my opinion. It was cute, and it took a bit to crescendo to the conclusion. The sex scenes were much less frequent than I expected, and not the least bit gratuitous than I expected with some of the reviews I've read. They were short, and showed more of the characters falling for each other physically. I enjoyed the realness, and how mature and intelligent Sadie was about many of the things that happened. I related to her and enjoyed that she wasn't a character I wanted to slap. The meeting of Sebastian and Sadie could have gone differently, that was dumb, but the rest of it flowed pretty easily. I'd read it again.

Better Than The First
Reviewed: 10-08-21
I found this one actually better than the first. Alina is so much more tolerable and stronger than she was, and it makes her a more likeable character. The relationship she has with Mal is realistic, and her reactions are very true to her character and past. Yes, there are those "JUST TELL HIM" moments that can usually be frustrating. Those unspoken stretches where no one is clearing up a misunderstanding can be a little irritating, but even the reasons for that is explained and it does make sense to her. Performance is solid. Lauren Fortgang has a wonderful narrating voice and her voice acting is pretty good.

Rough.
Reviewed: 10-06-21
The only part of this book that is enjoyable is the narrator. I could listen to Nick Podehl narrate until I die, however, if I continue on with this book I might just do that. I've gotten to Chapter 5 and the main protagonist is so perfect, think Gary Stu, it's sickening, except for his inept social skills and inability to understand "friends". I literally yawned at one point because I just couldn't find any entertainment in this. I usually love these types of books, when they have humor in them, but the author tries too hard to take this character seriously, while attempting to make his willingness to go out of his way for two strangers slightly amusing. Save yourself a credit, or money, and find another book. This one isn't worth it.

Story
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Nick Podehl is an amazing narrator. The accents and tones he uses for each character makes them easy to distinguish and he captures the emotions perfectly. This book is entertaining and very well written, but with Nick's narration, it truly brings the story to life. I laughed, I cried and I generally felt for each character. I highly recommend these books to everyone who expresses their love of books, and I can't wait for the third one to finally be released.

Nick Podehl does an amazing job bringing all the voices together with their accents. There were some amazing parts that really brought me into the story. The story itself starts off a bit slow and confusing, but as it progresses, the world comes together and is fascinating. Yes, there were moments where I spoke outloud to myself, wondering how Kvothe couldn't see what was happening in front of him, but there were other times where it wasn't until later that I realized what his small action meant, and what it accomplished. I was transfixed by this story, and am looking forward to starting the next one. I've been recommending this book to everyone I know who reads because of how wonderful it is.

Kind of a Whiny Character
Reviewed: 09-16-21
I liked Samantha for majority of the book. The writing wasn't bad, and there were quite a few parts that I could even relate with the main character. Some of her one liners were witty, and I found her interesting, until the whining started. There are quite a few chapters where the main character was unlikable and intolerable. The prince was adorable and enjoyable throughout, and it wasn't until Samantha actually started taking the advice of those around her to stop dwelling on the negative that the story became pleasant again. It was enjoyable and I'd read a sequel if one was ever written.

Starting with some hard S's
Reviewed: 03-22-21
The beginning of the book was a bit rough to listen to. The narrator had some hard S's that was too sharp to listen at a certain volume. The book is great and well written, it's just difficult to listen to so many innocent people who were waylaid by the law. Most had happy endings, but there were so many who had lost chunks of their lives. Douglas and Olshaker did a wonderful job of bringing these stories to our attention and describing what happened and how these things can go so wrong so quickly.
