Another great In Death book

I love this series, not just for the main murder mystery, but also for the secondary stories that flow through the books. I love the humor also. Eve’s acerbic wit, sometimes due to her unusual and cruel childhood, lightens dealing with the murders. The secondary characters are real stars. The Oscar’s storyline is wonderful in this book. Susan Erickson’s narration is exemplary, each character has a unique voice and that voice is the same throughout the books. Try these books, you won’t be disappointed. Read in order to get the full experience.

Quirky & interesting little book

Follow along on the boy’s journey of discovery as he saves books. He follows four labyrinths each to a book “demon” who is not respecting the books & reading. A surprise twist near the end. With a good ending. Very enjoyable!

That cover-yum! Love the Honky Tonk Angels series!

Another great addition to the Honky Tonk Angels series. The narration was well done, J.S. Bennett’s female voices are getting better, and he has mastered the southern cowboy male voice.

First, let’s start with that cover – oh my! It’s rare these days when the cover model actually looks like the character described in the book. It’s refreshing to have a contemporary romance involve adult characters. There are so many new adult stories on the market these days.

This story introduces us to Cade, a cousin of Hannah and Cody who run the Honky Tonk Angels bar. Cade is restless after selling his casino, so he agrees to move to Cotton Creek to manage the bar and give Hannah and Cody some much needed help.

Soon, best friends Dini and Roxie decide to ditch Las Vegas and hit the road. Their car breaks down just outside Cotton Creek, so they end up in town looking for work to pay for the car repairs. As soon as Cade and Roxie meet, there are sparks of immediate attraction, but Roxie just wants to get her car fixed and get out of town. Cade makes a bet with her, a very naughty bet, gambling on keeping her around for a while. He also hires her to work at the bar.

Dini seems to be settling in and is content to make a life in Cotton Creek. Roxie wants to keep moving. Turns out Roxie is hiding some big secrets, ones that even Dini does not know. Cade continues to pursue Roxie and helps her reveal and deal with those secrets. Coming to a nice ending to their story.

There is a big surprise event near the end involving several other characters. This event involves a special character that has appeared in each of the books. He makes these books just a little different and a little more special than your typical cowboy romance.

Parts of the story continue from the previous books in the series, so there are many familiar characters. The old power struggle revolving around the Cotton Creek Energy Company and the spurned fathers returns with an interesting conclusion at the end of the book.

I really enjoyed the story as the relationships grew and developed. My only complaint is that the book is short and the ending seemed to wrap up very quickly.

Lyrical, repetitive, steamy, CLIFFHANGER!

First, this author/publisher did a disservice to readers by making no mention of this book being incomplete. Frankly, I’m tired of books that are incomplete, it makes the author/publisher seem greedy. I enjoy series, but each book should have an ending that fits within the overall arc of the series. This book DOES NOT HAVE an ending.

The story itself had great promise. However, I think the author was trying to make the book read like a song since this is essentially a rock star romance. There are lots of repeating of words and comparisons to light and dark. It got old quickly. Sebastian is an interesting character and watching him grow throughout the story was wonderful. His relationship to his brother and band brothers was great. Shea was a wonderful mom, I was cheering for her, and that they were going to have a happily ever after ending. Then we find out that Shea has been lying all along about who and what she is. I’m not sure if I can stomach a second book to see if she redeems herself.

There are many steamy scenes with what some will consider vulgar language. Personally, I think that language took away from the romance instead of helping it.

I noticed that the Amazon BOOK description now does note that this is part 1 and that the book is continued in part 2. This description was NOT there when I bought the book. It is still NOT included in the description of the AUDIOBOOK.

I bought this book because Andi Arndt & Sebastian York are two of my favorite narrators. However, this production has engineering problems. Many times the audio was inconsistent and during some of the quieter moments of the story, I had to re-wind just to hear what was said.

Not my favorite installment in my favorite series

My favorite part of this book is Roarke’s family visiting for Thanksgiving and the ceremony where both Eve & Roarke get the special awards from the NYPSD. And of course, all the usual interactions with the wonderful supporting cast of characters.

What I didn’t like was Jerry Reinhold, the villain. He was a sniveling, cry-baby, opportunist jerk who accidentally turns into a remorseless killer. I got really sick of his whining and could not wait for him to get caught. This book also had too much gore and violence. Not my favorite installment in one of my favorite series. Maybe the abridged version might have been a better choice for this one.

Lauren Blakely and Sebastion York do it again

What made the experience of listening to Mister O the most enjoyable?

It's a fun, light-hearted and funny story. Both Nick and Harper are interesting and different characters. With a bonus of some returning characters from Big Rock. This is a whimsical romance, not a lot of drama, a little predictable, but fun.

What other book might you compare Mister O to and why?

Big Rock by the same author/narrator. In fact, this book can be a stand-alone, but I enjoyed the connection of some crossover of the characters between the books.

What does Sebastian York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OMG - his voice! He's dirty & sexy & funny all at once!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Several laugh out loud moments. I loved the scenes with Nick and his brother walking the tiny shelter dogs through the park. So funny imagining these big, muscled, sexy guys walking these tiny dogs and turning it into a macho game! Lots of steamy scenes, some of them funny also! No crying here, except maybe at the end, but then its happy tears.

Second chance romance

Justine O. Keef is a wonderful narrator. She keeps the story flowing using multiple believable voices. Her pacing matches that of the author. Even though I have read this story before, I still really enjoyed listening to it.

Noah was a real jerk for the first third of the book. We know he has a deep, dark secret that prevents him from feeling that he can love and be loved. But he was really nasty to Kit and damn lucky that she eventually gave him a second, third & fourth chance. This is really a story of love triumphs all!

The story is a little slow at the beginning and I got a little tired of Noah's antics, that's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. However, once we get past that and he & Kit try to work things out, it turns into a wonderful story. It was also nice to see all the guys in the band helping each other so much just like in the other books in this series.

Stay tuned for a really sweet ending.

Would you listen to Rock Hard again? Why?

Yes! It's well done, an interesting story, great characters and covers all the emotions from sadness to complete joy.

Which character – as performed by Justine O. Keef – was your favorite?

There are so many wonderful characters, all well performed by Justine O. Keef. She does a great job with both Charlie and Gabriel. She conveyed Charlie's shyness as she grows into a confident & competent woman. In addition, Gabriel's take no prisoners workaholic start, to his patience in helping Charlie learn to be confident. But she also puts a lot of heart into the supporting characters also, such as Gabriel's family especially his nieces, mom & dad.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The mouse tames the T-Rex

It is a great performance of an interesting book. This was a slow burn romance and the performance keeps you involved in every aspect of the story as characters grow and the romance takes shape. I loved this performance even though I knew the story from the reading the book, this made the book come alive again.

An audio performance that enhances a great story

What made the experience of listening to Rock Courtship the most enjoyable?

It is a great performance of an interesting book. While it includes many typical rock star story steamy scenes, it also includes multi-dimensional characters and lots of interaction between all the characters. The other guys in the band are virtually brothers. Both Thea and David have families we get to know and that show they really care about each other. Plus this was a slow burn romance, very rare for a rock star romance. I loved how David constantly reminded Thea that he loved how smart she was in addition to be sexy.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's hard to decide. Both Thea and David are strongly developed and complex characters that make for an interesting story. But I also loved the supporting characters: the other band members, Thea's family, and David's family. The two mothers are wise woman who clearly love their children and love that their children are finally finding love themselves.

What about Justine O. Keef’s performance did you like?

Justine O. Keef does a great job with both female and male voices. Totally believable male voices! I loved this story when I read it and I loved it even more after listening to it.

If you like rocker romances, Justine O. Keef does an amazing job with the audio. Check out the Sinners on Tour series by Olivia Cunning - you won't be disappointed.

An audio performance that enhances a great story

Would you listen to Rock Addiction again? Why?

Yes. Justine O. Keef does a great job with both female and male voices. Totally believable male voices! I loved this story when I read it and I loved it even more after listening to it.

What did you like best about this story?

How Molly and Fox learn to trust and love each other. Both had to overcome traumatic youths that make it hard for them to trust. I also loved the way the guys in the band are great friends. They support each other yet aren't afraid to tell the other if they are screwing up. Great supporting characters also.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Molly pulls Fox out of his studio and tells him to stop brooding. Also, the ending was very sweet!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I liked how Molly and the guys stood together to face the press after one of the pivotal events in the story. Fox asked the Schoolboy Choir fans to help and they did, even more than the band ever thought they would.

Any additional comments?

My only disappointment was that Molly did not have a Kiwi accent, which would have made the performance perfect. But, if you like rocker romances, Justine O. Keef does an amazing job with the audio. Check out the Sinners on Tour series - you won't be disappointed.
