I read this book 4 times (actually listen to it twice). Only truly understood it the last time all four were worth it, but the fourth was the best.

If you could sum up Reflections in a Golden Eye in three words, what would they be?

Who killed whom?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Not a single character in this book is likable in any way. They are all petty and self centered. If I had to pick one least unlikable character I guess it would be the Major's wife and Anakleto.

Which scene was your favorite?

The way the captain is both deeply frightened and completely exhilarated by the wild horse ride, and the way he later reacts to that exhilaration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That never happens to me. I usually listen as I walk or ride bike.

Any additional comments?

This is an excellent book structurally. I won't reveal what I think to be the beauty of what this writer does in the construction of this plot, but it worked fantastically I thought. Hint: the first paragraph (so I'm not giving anything away) says that a murder happened that involved six characters, one of which is a horse.

If you could sum up Train Dreams and Jesus' Son in three words, what would they be?

I did not listen to Jesus' Son but Train Dreams was excellent. The voice of the narrator was perfect for story. The story itself was great and I won't give away the end but I found it to be perfect.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There is only really a single character so I would guess it was that one. There are other characters but they do not play a huge role in the story.

What does Will Patton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As is true of most audible books I think the human voice, and Will Patton's in particular, brings something that is just not present in when I read.the

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought the end was stunning. I didn't cry but only because my son was sitting next to me in the car.

Any additional comments?

Worth the price (or at least it's worth one of my annual tokens).

Would you consider the audio edition of The Poets' Corner to be better than the print version?

If you like poetry you will love this book. John Lithgow may not be the most scholarly poetry critic in the world - but that's what I liked most about this book. His comments about each poet's life as well as their poetry is, if not amazing, at least entertaining. The readers of the poems, which in some cases is John Lithgow, and in other cases other notable actors and readers are all great. If I found other books like this I would buy them.
