Story
Meet Harry, aspiring tech entrepreneur. He’s a would-be Steve Jobs trapped in a cubicle gig at an angel investor firm, so close and yet so far from his dreams. His marriage is foundering, his career is stalled out, and all he wants is to create an app like Uber, or Tinder, something to make real change in the world, and change his own life forever. Now meet Peter, a deeply troubled computer genius who lives in a basement apartment, chugging red wine, nursing old grudges and writing code. When Harry meets Peter, it’s both of their lives that will change, when they invent an app for murder.

This short story was super interesting and good, especially at what happened at the end. I didn’t see the end coming, but I wasn’t mad at it. I could definitely see how it could have been justified. I’m becoming a fan of this author’s way of writing as he keeps all his readers interested up until the end of the book. I’m on to the next one by this author.

Shocked!
Reviewed: 03-09-25
I had to see where the series would end and now that I have, I am disappointed in so many ways. I wasn't expecting this end at all. In my honest opinion, this series had so much potential until this last book. I grew to love the characters of Roan, Bane and Gareth, Raven, Ennis, and Falcon for instance. Other characters I didn't much care for, but their roles were pivotal to the story. Had I known how this series would end I definitely would have stopped at the first book.

Frustrating at times but good!
Reviewed: 03-03-25
Can't believe how much I have come to enjoy this series even though I have found it frustrating at times. I have read this series from the very beginning and I dont regret it. This book along with the other ones in the series have been awesome to listen to. There are many things to love about this series/book. For instance, like how it's well-written with well-detailed scenery as the author takes their readers on these flawed characters traveles as they each go through their own trials and tribulations. However, there are some things I don't much care for, like how every character needs to have a love interest and some pairings are just made too fast without much development over the ones who had more build up. Super annoying in my opinion. I can't wait to listen to the final book in this series.

Book 3 in this series follows our characters as they continue on their path and do what they feel is right. I can definitely say having read book 1, 2, and now 3, some characters I love and others I don't much care for. However, that doesn't factor into me not enjoying this story because I am. These books are keeping me hooked from start to finish. I can't wait to read the next one.

I have to say this first book into the series displays an interesting start to the series and I can’t wait to read more about it. There are a lot of intriguing characters and their own stories. The author definitely keeps his readers invested from start to finish. The narrator is amazing and how he captures each character. I can’t wait to find out more about the fatemarked characters especially.

Good but has issues!
Reviewed: 02-07-25
I have to say this is the second book that I have read in the series and I will say the storylines alone are emotional as they are phenomenal. However, the narrator needs to step it up and switch up these voices because every character is starting to sound the same. This kinda of takes away from the story, having all the characters speak in the same voice. Another issue I have with the author is that some of these characters are judgmental and is very irritating. The majority of these characters backgrounds are already established is another issue I have with this author, leaving a little mystery goes a long way in my opinion. Lastly, being able to guess who is or rather who are the perpetrators is a little annoying. I am still going to read the series because I love all the storylines. The author is very thoughtful and well-detailed when writing each storyline.

What a start!

This was a great start to the series and I’m looking forward to reading more in the future.
There are so many characters and their stories and I was right about a certain character which I won’t spoil for others. I liked how everything came together and how it all related to a certain past. I couldn’t believe our female lead wasn’t catching on to all the obvious clues it was slightly annoying. I mean i already had guessed it before she became aware of it. Wished it would have turned out differently but it was too much damage done. The only issues I have was with Alyssa’s strong dislike for her mother-in-law in the beginning without the audience being shown the reasons why and hopefully we gain more insight on each of the members of her team, including her partner in the next book. I feel like they are just there and already have their stories told without us being witness to them.

Story
I have never been favored by the gods. Far from it, thanks to Zeus. Living as a cursed office clerk for the Order of Thieves, I just keep my head down and hope the capricious beings who rule from Olympus won’t notice me. Not an easy feat, given San Francisco is Zeus’ patron city, but I make do. I survive. Until the night I tangle with a different god. The worst god. Hades. For the first time ever, the ruthless, mercurial King of the Underworld has entered the Crucible—the deadly contest the gods hold to determine a new ruler to sit on the throne of Olympus.

This book was a little long in my honest opinion, but it was highly entertaining with all the different elements of gods and goddesses. All the champions were interesting as they each took their turn in each labour. Every one of them was crazy dangerous but fun to read about at the same time. I enjoyed it from the beginning and what a shocking ending, but I wasn’t super surprised given the true nature of the box. I definitely will read more from this author in the future.

This book was really good and I loved all the backstory. I loved the different point of views, getting into each character head and their way of thinking. Loved the many twist and turns, but I was right about the connection between Angela and Rory. This author is talented and keeps his readers hooked from start to finish. This was my second book by this author and it won’t be my last.
