It is certainly true that history is written by the victors. The author seems to be quite biased as one of the many "smart", "successful" Anglo-American. He does not seem to miss an opportunity to pound on the "stupid", "short-sighted", "clumsy" and "Catholic" Spaniards and Mexicans. I wish Gwyne stuck more to the facts and less to his interpretation about the intentions and abilities of the characters involved. I would have doubts whether to recommend this book.

Many have happened in cosmology in the last 20 years. Disappointed, he did not mention LeMaitre, the first person to propose the bigbang theory, a Catholic priest.

Science good. Philosophy poor. Scientists please stick to science and don't tell the only possible way to know is through science. Note: I am a scientist myself.
