I enjoyed this book immensely. It was fun knowing the characters but it added women’s rights, family, Inter cultural issues… Very rich. Look forward to reading about the lives of all the kids who came to life in this book.

Story
When two Union soldiers stumble onto a plantation in northern Georgia on a warm May day in 1864, the last thing they expect is to see the Union flag flying high - or to be greeted by a group of freed slaves and their Jewish mistress. Little do they know that this place has an unusual history. Twelve years prior, Adelaide Mannheim - daughter of Mordecai, the only Jewish planter in the county - was given her own maid, a young slave named Rachel. The two became friends, and soon they discovered a secret.

Enthralling story, beautifully performed

I was struck by the story of Jews owning and relating to slaves. As with every other human interaction, every person relates un a different ways. Lovely, interesting. HIGHLY recommend

Story
Here is the audio companion to the magnificent seven-part PBS series. The individuals featured in this audiobook are not historians or scholars. They are ordinary men and women who experienced - and helped to win - the most devastating war in history, in which between 50 and 60 million lives were lost.

Extracts of this book should become required reading in High School so the future generations NEVER forget! The reading by Burns is INCREDIBLE. He pulls you in and the conclusion.... appropriately chilling! Would very much recommend!

Story
An authoritative and deeply personal narrative history of the State of Israel, by one of the most influential journalists writing about the Middle East today. Not since Thomas L. Friedman's groundbreaking From Beirut to Jerusalem has a book captured the essence and the beating heart of the Middle East as keenly and dynamically as My Promised Land.

Loved this book. It brings a larger, flexible perspective without oversimplifying a very complex situation. Realistic! Highly recommend!
