Story
My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods...or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me. Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me. Which could spell death for us all.

It’s good but not great

I’m strangely obsessed with the original audiobook, like listened to it 7+ times atleast obsessed. This is good. But some of the voices don’t seem right to me. But I do like the variation.
I’ve listened to other audiobooks that are described as graphic, including sounds and such to bring the story alive, but this one for me… I don’t know. There was subtle piano music in the background almost the entire time unless it’s a cell phone buzzing or footsteps. Plus the occasional fight scene or romantic scene.
I don’t regret listening to it, but I don’t think I’ll repeat this one like I repeated the original.

A cool addition to a book I already love
Reviewed: 02-01-24
I am, for some reason, completely obsessed with this series and have no problem listening to the entire thing and then immediately listening to it again.
This was a cool way to have some thing I already love, but have a little variation.
I do miss the original audio actor as I have listened so many times that she really is the voice of Grace but this one was fine too. Some of the other voices not so much. The voice of Macy is very annoying. And the voice of Jackson sounds like a 50-year-old guy pretending to be a high school kid. I think they missed the mark there.
I expected more noises honestly. There was some footsteps and an unfortunate moment of throwing up but otherwise it was just kind of some low music in the background. Maybe if they continue to remake all of the books with this graphic option there will be more sounds during other books that have a bit more action.
