Story
All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world. Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

Not my cup of tea
Reviewed: 06-04-24
I found the story very repetitious. I listened for over 3 hours and got bored with the interplay between main (only) character and a ghost. All of the time spent wandering around aimlessly in an underground crypt. Just a totally lacking story for intent and/or purpose.

Most excellent and enjoyable read. It is a rather complex and convoluted story but held together and nicely interwoven.
Althought there is some profanity in this book, it is not excessive and is well placed for emhasis when necessary.
I think Wil Wheaton was an fantastic choice for the reading of this book. He really makes it come alive.

Sorry, but I could not finish this one. I tried several times but it was just not for me. Way to modernistic type of story. I like and love things like Jack Reacher stories but this just left me cold.
Others may find it perfect but it was not for me.

Hello stranger, my name is Tal, and I’m not an adventurer—those people are crazy. I’m just a sorcerer who is masquerading as a wizard. Oh, and I’m searching for answers about my parents’ mysterious deaths. Also monsters and other foes seem to show up wherever I go. All right, I see it. My new traveling companions are seasoned adventurers and are teaching me their ways—or at least they were before something happened to Time.

Just not for me. I really tried to give it a fair run. Actually listened to the whole book. The book ended prematurely, seeming exactly like that was half of the story and you need to get book 2 to finish it.
It did have some interesting ideas in the story but was erratic and difficult to follow. Could have been better thought out on how the story progressed.
Just an awkward read and not my cup of tea. Will not be getting the second half (book 2).

Difficult & awkward

An awkward attempt to reinvent the wheel.
Way to much duplication and repetition throughout these books. One gets the feeling of a kid trying to write a full length book and constantly using copy and paste to extend the book.
Interesting attempt to reinvent litrpg writing and failing. Narrator does nothing to make it more palatable. Writer continually uses awkward phrases by using a convenient thesaurus to change words.
Just overall very awkward.
