Story
A triple bill of archive BBC radio dramas, believed lost for over half a century and only recently rediscovered. "Butter in a Lordly Dish", written specially for radio in 1948, features Richard Williams as Sir Luke Enderby KC, whose infidelities lead him into trouble when he goes to meet his latest flame. Williams also stars as Hercule Poirot in "Murder in the Mews", a 1955 adaptation of a short story. A young woman is found dead in her flat the day after Guy Fawkes night.

My husband and I listen to Agatha Christie as we travel. These short stories provided great entertainment for short trips. We love her work and the productions were enjoyable.

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now this sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel.

I Love the Outlander Series

What made the experience of listening to Dragonfly in Amber the most enjoyable?
The narrator did a fine job of conveying the mood and feeling of the story, which is engaging and romantic. Diana Gabaldon writes with passion and expression using a fabulous vocabulary and an incomparable use of language. I have read all of the Outlander books, and have a bias toward the series. Set in 18th Century Scotland, the plot includes time travel, romance and accurate historical references.
What other book might you compare Dragonfly in Amber to and why?
Diana Gabaldon's books would all fall within this genre and are similar in mood and appeal.
Which scene was your favorite?
Spoiler: The final scene as Claire prepares to return to her present, leaving Jamie as he expects to fight and die at Culloden.

For 20 years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones...about a love that transcends the boundaries of time...and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his....
