Story
Breaker is an Elder of the Citadel. A top-level superhero at a point in his life where settling down makes sense. He and his team of super-hot super ladies are the only ones who can possibly make it through to the other side. It's up to them to find the last Per-Neters and put an end to the enemy's push to take over the universe. What they find on the other side, they never could have expected. And the path that it puts them on is certain to answer more questions than they knew they had to begin with.

When I picked up the free one-shot Charm School Outcast, I never expected to care about this series. I was just listening to a free audiobook while working out... but I'm gonna see it through. some of the characters are repetitive, but I have definitely grown to care for Charm, Laurel, Harp and Agris. I kind of wish the cast wasn't so large so that the characters could get more depth, but at this point, it's not about the story, it's about the space opera and the relationships.
go for it, you will be entertained, and check the rest of it out. Jamie Hawke is either a genius or a complete loon, but I'm here for it.

This book did not ask me to think and puzzle things out too much, it instead let me sit back, relax, and enjoy the story it had to say. The humor is excellent, the character growth is fun to follow, and the while concept behind how things happen is a mind trip on its own. it even takes the time to answer questions i had about the world building, which, to me, is indicative that the author has built his world and had to answer the same questions for himself, and was kind enough to work the explanation in.

An excellent story with great, relatable and involving characters, though the protagonist is a little too perfect at times, RUINED by a singsonging narrator that drones through her performance to the extent that her patterns of inflection become predictable and distract from the story. It turned into a bit of a game to predict if she'd raise her tone into near-question inflection or stretch the finale of a sentence dramatically.
Get the Kindle version and let the computer text to speech read it to you, it'll at least be forgivable from a machine.

This book was a fantastic reimagining of previously unexplored themes while reincorporating a character into the new Star Wars universe.
I also appreciated all of the Legendary characters finding their way back into the story, like Hisishi and Captain Virgilio. kinda sneaky of the author, but pleasing to the rebel in me.
really the only issue I have with this is the audio production itself. it suffers from quality control... and Vader's breathing in the final chapter was just so jarring it broke the immersion. how could they get that one sound effect wrong? flabbergasting.

Story
When Han and Leia Solo arrive at Lando Calrissian’s Outer Rim mining operation to help him thwart a hostile takeover, their aim is just to even up the odds and lay down the law. Then monstrous aliens arrive with a message, and mere threats escalate into violent sabotage with mass fatalities. When the dust settles, what began as corporate warfare becomes a battle with much higher stakes - and far deadlier consequences. Now Han, Leia, and Luke team up once again in a quest to defeat a dangerous adversary bent on galaxy-wide domination.

A disappointing ending to the expanded universe
Reviewed: 09-03-20
the story felt a little like it had things to setup a future series, but got the word the expanded universe was being shut down and it decided to rush to the end, with usually strong characters suddenly feeling their age, and little to no payoff for the secondary characters we've followed all these years.
I was hoping for more closure and was left wanting more, knowing nothing more would come. and denning's pacing is, as usual in his star Wars work, a slog to get through for the setup, and an explosive lead to the ending that just feels confused. I'd have preferred for Aaron Alston to close off the expanded universe.

Short, sweet and to the point. Gotta love Dan!
Reviewed: 01-16-12
If you could sum up Bumblebee & Me in three words, what would they be?
An amusing and honnest look at the ups and downs of voice acting in the 80s.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bumblebee & Me?
How Dan described the way the actors all had to leave the booth when takes were made that included the character of Seaspray.
What does Dan Gilvezan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Dan has an amazing voice and the fact he wrote the book means that he knows where to emphasize. This feels like you're sitting with him around a campfire listening to his life experience. It's amazing to hear the magic and emotion behind the words he wrote.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I'd say that the most emotional moment is when Dan talks of his experience with Chris Latta. He is very honnest about what that was like, and from what I know of Dan, this is very likely to be close to the real deal. He doesn't alter what the facts were, and it presents a large level of melancholia about Chris Latta that most others would probably not have had the honnesty to say.
Any additional comments?
Get this audiobook, really, it'll beat the crap out of any TV show you might waste your time on. It's great for that 2 hour car drive to see grandma, and the kids will enjoy it just as much as the nostalgic adult.
