Nice fast pace; 1st ½ is a bit jumbled—not really sure where it’s going but it really comes together in the 2bd ½ in very unexpected ways. Fun read!

This would be a great summer beach read. There’s a bit of a lull about â…“ way in, but the story picks back up. At several point you’ll think you’ve figured it out, but the story takes another turn. Very engaging listen that is hard to put down!

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Fun story if you are willing to suspend disbelief 100% and go for the ride. Narration is ok but becomes grating; WW has a great voice but similar to all his narrations I’ve listed to he sounds like he has a giant smirk on his face, Not sure how else to describe it but it gets old quickly.

Amazing end to a super-fun ride! Great story with lots of silly pop-culture references that are hilariously timed. For those of you who are not dog people—first off—shame on you! Secondly you might not really ‘get’ some of the doggy humor, but you may find yourself inexplicably roaming your local shelters in search of your new best friend. JR has the ability to make you fall in love with his characters and the narration is spot-on (pun intended)—you can immediately identify each character by voice without overlap & each is true to his ‘breed’ â?¤ï¸?â?¤ï¸?â?¤ï¸?â?¤ï¸?â?¤ï¸?â?¤ï¸? only negative is I am again left without a new JR to read…sigh…
