Story
Renowned Israeli historian Ilan Pappe's groundbreaking book revisits the formation of the State of Israel. Between 1947 and 1949, over 400 Palestinian villages were deliberately destroyed, civilians were massacred, and around a million men, women, and children were expelled from their homes at gunpoint. Denied for almost six decades, had it happened today it could only have been called "ethnic cleansing."

I consider myself a student of history and really did not know this story from this point of view ..... to be clear, it's obviously heavenly influenced by the point of view of the author (which is fair) .... seems to be very well researched and thought out. Still, I'll need to do some more reading to see how the other side feels about these things. Glad I listened to it.

Story
Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert's story of growing up with two dads - his real father and the father of his best friend, his rich dad - and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you. In the 20th anniversary edition of this classic, Robert offers an update on what we’ve seen over the past 20 years related to money, investing, and the global economy.

Not sure this is best suited for audio as it references pictures and diagrams, but a classic (albeit pretty "basic") book worthy of a listen

I love Mel Brooks and could listen to him read stereo instructions .... I wish there had been more anecdotes about his life and interaction with other people. Oftentimes he resorts to just quoting from his movies or acceptance speeches ... Four Stars!

Story
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as round-ups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

This is mostly a scholarly work and is of some important note. In order to reach its conclusions the author must go into terrible detail about some of the atrocities. Hard to stomach, but probably important to hear.... very interesting but hard to separate the psych science from the awful story underneath.

Many political and cultural events sent shock waves through the Irish world in the 19th and early 20th centuries as Ireland gradually shook off the shackles of British rule. Alongside a long and painful political process arose one of the greatest flourishings of literature in modern times - a spirited discourse among those who sought to shape their nation's future, finding the significance of their bloody present intimately entwined with their legendary past.
