Story
Lilith has been dying since the day she was born. While she long ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone she loves are an entirely different matter. As her town slowly withers in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands. Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing the gods hate more than her village: a vampire, Vale. She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood—the one hope for her town's salvation.

Nice delve into this world again!
Reviewed: 06-19-24
I wish this had been longer. The second half of this novella felt rushed after a lot of build-up.
Still, it’s a lovely romance between a solitary vampire and a woman seeking the survival of her town. It was nice to have a neurodivergent character, although sometimes it felt as if she went down a list of traits rather than embodying them.

Amazing Narration & Fun Cozy Mystery!
Reviewed: 06-06-24
This was a lovely cozy mystery. Gregory Ashe’s first?
What worked for me:
-The narrator was amazing at differentiating the voices of the characters!
-The setting on the Oregon Coast…I could feel it!
-The second half of the book
-I had no idea who dunnit 😱
What didn’t work for me:
-I didn’t care for the MC in the first half of the book. He almost seems like a different person at the beginning: a blurter, bumbling, just very meh. In the second half, the blurting stops & he seems a lot more confident. Regardless, I’m glad he changed because I didn’t like the MC at the beginning.
My rec? If you’re a cozy mystery fan, go for it. If you’re a Gregory Ashe fan, go for it. Heck, if you just want to kick back and play detective with a lovely cup of tea at your side, go for it!

When word comes that two key witnesses in an investigation are dead, North and Shaw are surprised—and pleased—to learn that their friend, John-Henry Somerset, is interested in hiring them as freelance contractors for the Wahredua police department. The department is stretched thin, and the investigation into the Cottonmouth Club (and the criminal organization operating there) is collapsing. Not to mention—in North and Shaw’s opinion, anyway—they’re the best detectives around.

How can Ashe possibly combine all of his couples in one series and have it make sense?! Amazing!!
This audiobook was fantastic!
Here we are getting deeper into the mystery plaguing Wahureda (sp? I only listen to these, so I’ve no idea how to spell the name) and threatening the lives of our MC’s and their families.
I won’t go into it much more, except that you can expect the typical North & Shaw banter with solid and constant cameos from the other 3 couples!
My rec? This is a series that really must be enjoyed after getting to know the characters in their own individual series. If you have t yet dived into this world, what are you waiting for?

Routine construction at a Broadway souvenir shop leads to the discovery of a mummified woman in the wall. And when Larkin receives a mysterious VHS tape that same night, he knows it’s no coincidence.

AUDIOBOOK- March 2024: I liked this better the second time around on audiobook!
AUDIOBOOK - October 2023: Great narration to a spectacular series. NOT a standalone! Thanks to the author for the audiobook!
EBOOK - June 2023
Wow! A hell of a lot happens in this book; so much so that I felt a little lost at times. Poe, however gave me time to play catch up and I got there in the end.
It’s hard to talk about this book without revealing spoilers, but I’ll try.
A mummified body takes us back to NYC’s Times Square in the 1980’s. More mysterious notes and mementos come for Larkin. More cold cases that all seem to be connected.
Meanwhile, Larkin is slowly detoxing from his Xanax addiction. Doyle is as patient as ever, but dropping more hints about his past—all of which Larkin expertly stitches together.
This is definitely not a standalone & you wouldn’t go wrong reading the first two books again for a refresher.
This novel had more internal dialogue than past ones & we got to see more of how Larkin pieces clues together.
We are left in a cliffhanger & have to wait to see what outfit Larkin wears to the next murder scene. Can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

When Theo and Auggie return home—safe and sound and miraculously alive after being dragged into a murder investigation—all Theo wants is for life to get back to normal. No more murders. No more investigations. Nothing, in other words, that might put Auggie in danger. But when a girl from school goes missing, Theo finds himself reluctantly drawn into looking for her. Shaniyah was his former student, for one reason. And, for another, no one else seems interested in where she’s gone. Worse, her disappearance seems to be linked to a break-in at Theo and Auggie’s house.

4.5 Stars for this fantastic addition to the Ashe multiverse! Best enjoyed after having read some of part of the series: Hazard & Somerset, North & Shaw, Tem & Jem, and Theo & Auggie.
A missing girl leads Auggie and Theo to launch an investigation into her disappearance. Along the way, they are targeted by unknown individual(s). On the personal front, Theo’s angry outbursts begin to scare Auggie.
A great mystery in which I never guessed the perpetrator(s).
Above all, an AMAZING NARRATION by J.F. Harding!!!!

Wow! Did JF Harding narrate the hell out or this or what?
He tackled four of Ashe’s established couples and excelled. While the voices may not be the ones you’re used to, the cadences are spot on!
This novel is not a standalone. You must, at a minimum, be familiar with Tean & Jem. It’s a much better experience if you also know Hazard & Somerset, North & Shaw, and Theo & Auggie.
The plot was a little complicated, but I ride it out knowing that I was in 16 capable hands!
What a delight seeing all of these men together—a worthy audiobook!

There is soooo much happening in this book! It was a challenge only having the audiobook and not the ebook with all of the people, magics, schemes, etc.
While I appreciated the fact that there was no info dump, a little bit of information early on would have really helped me out.
On the romance aspect, there are two couples, but really one main focus (but with LOTS of POV’s). One couple’s romance is basically a throwaway early on. The other is one of enemies to lovers, but mostly enemies for 98% of the book. Then they come together—finally—and the book ends.
The audiobook was well done, especially with the multitude of voices. It took me a long time to wrap my head around what was going on, but once I did, things started to move along for me, anticipating how the two antagonistic capturer and captive would come together.
Now I want to know what happens next in this land full of war, magic, & schemes.
Recommended, but it’d be great to have a glossary handy (only if the audiobook had one…)
