Story
Miller "Buck" Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed-up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he's ready for a girlfriend. A real, nonbunny girlfriend to take on dates and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation. Miller thinks he's found that woman in his teammate's sister.

Story
Nash Richards was my first everything. First boyfriend, first time, first love. First heartbreak, too. In a former life, I used to religiously attend Lakeside U's hockey games. Then my ex-who-shall-not-be-named—the team's top defensive enforcer—cross-checked my heart into the boards, and I haven't set foot in that arena since. But when fate conspires against me, I'm assigned to complete my senior athletic training internship with Nash's team, and forced to work closely with the only guy I've ever loved. You know, the one who skated out of my life without looking back.

Bad Narratorszzz
Reviewed: 02-25-25
I finished this book but it was mediocre. The narrators however were so bad they were awesome.
Most of the bad reviews of this book is about the female narrator but the male is just ok.
The fun part of the female narrator was that another reviewer compared her to Kristen Wiig doing one of her old lady impersonations (think Target SNL) and once I read that I couldn’t unhear it. Fun. Made me finish the book. Good times.

This book was sweet, well narrated and a bit saucy.
I watch Hallmark films because I’m a bit cheesy but this is like a Hallmark film I wish I could watch. Cute.

Shelby Hunt has the perfect life, married to the perfect man. At least, that's what anyone would think, looking at her. They couldn't possibly know about the past five years of lonely nights, or the divorce papers still sitting unsigned on her husband's desk, or the shady business practices he's brought home on more than one occasion - often in the form of scary men with loaded guns and briefcases full of laundered cash.

Let me get this straight.
Some really scary guys go to your work looking for you and then you promptly forget and just stroll to the farmers market. You don’t call a friend and tell them, you don’t assume they will look at you at your home, you just keep living your yoga life. Then when the FBI guy shows up, saves you and points out your house isn’t safe you stomp your foot down and refuse help. Keep in mind that all of your friends and I do mean ALL of your friends have been kidnapped at some point. You suck. The FBI should have left you to rot. Ugh.

I was trying to be forgiving about how awful both of these leads are but I draw the line at her having been on a plane one other time.
This girl went to Princeton and Harvard, she manages funds worth millions of dollars and has never once had to travel for work? BS!
I gave up after. Too dumb.

This book was really sweet and different from your standard romance. I’ve been getting kinda sick of your standard girl and boy gets together has a misunderstanding and then they get back together.
This book just dealt with the issues and moved on. It was refreshing and cute.
My only complaint was that the narrators didn’t match up.
The female talked too fast and desperate and the male was chill. But separately I liked them.

Confused

How come none of the other reviews mention a novella that should be read before this? ELIXER.
I seriously spent several chapter confused as to why I didn’t remember a bunch of the elixir stuff they were talking about.
Did all the other reviewers read that book or were they just ignoring the confusion? Ugh.
There is a book called Elixer it is not a numbered book not listed as 3.5 so you will just have to search it. Ugh.

Issues

I’m enjoying the story overall but I hate the constant repetitive inner dialogue and I have some serious questions about the parents
You need to keep what she is a secret so you send Bish to California to watch over her?
Then the complete moron Caleb invites her human friend and her bf.
What could go wrong?
Many of these characters are unforgivably dumb and it’s very very obvious things will not go well at that council meeting thing.
The story is good but the execution is mediocre at best.
