Story
As I sit in her dimly lit bedroom, surrounded by flickering candles, I feel the crushing weight of my daughter’s absence. It's been two years since Layla was murdered. The police have searched tirelessly for her killer, but they've found nothing – it's like whoever did it vanished into thin air. My once-perfect marriage is falling apart, we can hardly look at each other anymore. Our ten-year-old son Gale is struggling. He’s changed since she died. He’s more secretive and also…

I have never felt so many emotions listening to a book, and so many at the same time. This story was horrible and beautiful and devastating and heartbreaking and so many things. An awful story that was also so touching. A whole box of tissue at the end. Seriously. Wow.

I grabbed this book because it was free and because I had to drive to work and didn't have time to search for another audio book. I consider myself extremely lucky that I found it. I hadn't heard of the writer before but now I will be listening to all of his books. This one was a fantastic listen. The story, the characters....everything. I can't express how much I enjoyed this book. Also the narrator. The person reading the book can make or break a book, whether its a good story or not. This narration was amazing as was the book!!

Story
All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.
