Story
For a long time, no one pulling the strings in the comedy world thought that a woman over fifty from rural Tennessee could make it in the industry. But Leanne Morgan has defied the odds, reaching millions with her musings on hormones, low-rise britches, Weight Watchers, and her opposites-attract relationship with her husband, Chuck. In her charming southern accent, Morgan brings listeners inside her quest to find her voice after spending many years trying to figure out what that meant.

I feel so connected

I always enjoy watching the Instagram and TikTok and Facebook clips of Leanne Morgan. And reading her book, I felt so connected to her on a personal level. She is very relatable to so many people. I laughed out loud and kind of cried at the end, what a wonderful story of life, love, hope,
dreams and family. I finished the book feeling warm inside. thank you, Leanne.

Story
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

It’s Raw
Reviewed: 12-14-24
I could hear the overwhelming sadness and deep depression in Lisa’s voice recordings. Lisa was forever a lost spirit. Growing up privileged and envied but what Lisa lacked was gratitude. And she never found true happiness. As I grow older, I've learned that gratitude is the key & the answer to living a happy life.
Lisa’s part was read by Julia Roberts and she did a great job. This is a story of addiction and love in its rawest form.
It is told with respect and understanding from the voice of her daughter. I know this book wasn't easy for Riley. My thoughts and prayers are with Riley, her sisters, and the family.

A fictional tale about a true story

This was a part of modern history that I never heard of before. Thousands of children in Mississippi went missing and were stolen, kidnapped and sold. The perpetrators were never prosecuted either.

Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

In typical Freida fashion, you are surprised by who the killer turns out to be. The story is about some awkward teenagers that grow up to be horrible adults. It's a good storyline.

Undeveloped killer character
Reviewed: 11-13-24
Ugh. I wanted the story to be better than this! Yes, there was a surprise killer character but unfortunately the author didn’t build a relationship with this reader. The capture club was original. The science behind the medical examiner was interesting. But the fact that the real killer had no relationship to the reader was a let down and therefore seemed a cheap way out.

The author made several mistake mistakes
Reviewed: 10-26-24
The author made several mistakes when putting together the storyline. For example, when Marci leaned over the Hospital bed and whispered the name, Silas in her husband‘s ear. She already knew that wasn’t his name. A few chapters later, it was discovered that she had already known that. Anyway, I just didn’t like the story And there were so many mistakes in formulating this mystery.

This book is the 2nd book in the series. It has a good but complicated storyline. I learned a lot about post-civil war and the complexities that both races faced. This would be a good book to discuss in a book club or classroom.
