Would have loved Dan to be talking about his whole career, and not just one show.

Story
Stranger in a Strange Land is the epic saga of an earthling, Valentine Michael Smith, born and educated on Mars, who arrives on our planet with “psi” powers—telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, telekinesis, teleportation, pyrolysis, and the ability to take control of the minds of others—and complete innocence regarding the mores of man. After his tutelage under a surrogate father figure, Valentine begins his transformation into a kind of messiah.

Pleasantly Surprised
Reviewed: 02-22-12
I was expecting this book to be too dense for it's own good, based on what I had heard by word of mouth. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the easy flow of the story and characters. A wonderful reflection on our society...even decades after it was written. A classic.

Story
Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. Mainstream science - as well as religious and cultural institutions - has maintained that men and women evolved in families in which a man's possessions and protection were exchanged for a woman's fertility and fidelity. But this narrative is collapsing....

Refreshing

Such a refreshing and logical view on humans! This is a research based book so is a bit "textbooky" at times. But wonderful information...this should be part of sex education in all public schools!

Story
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Epic
Reviewed: 02-22-12
A wonderfully epic tale. If you enjoy fantasy, you will love this book. The reader took a little while to get used to. He sometimes mumbles and the different voices are sometimes hard to understand, but once you get a few chapters in, it's okay.

Story
In 1954, in the cookhouse of a logging and sawmill settlement in northern New Hampshire, an anxious twelve-year-old boy mistakes the local constable’s girlfriend for a bear. Both the twelve-year-old and his father become fugitives, forced to run from Coos County–to Boston, to southern Vermont, to Toronto–pursued by the implacable constable. Their lone protector is a fiercely libertarian logger, once a river driver, who befriends them.
