It is impressive. You thought the story was coming to and end, but there was 8 hours left in the book. The story kept going and it was all very good! There are some dark moments. Hopefully if you are reading this book you are prepared for the dark details. I can’t wait to read the next book.

The details in this book and all the different scenarios and countries and the extras are just exquisite. The writing brings everything to life. You can visualize everything that’s happening and the emotions that come with listening to the story definitely bring you to tears what our soldiers go through is amazing and the families that support them this book helps bring to light all sides of that story. It’s worth a listen.

I knew of Rosie the riveter from World War II, but I did not know about the women’s work in Europe during World War I and how that changed the course of all women doctors for the future. What those women did but shear will and grit is impressive. In addition the number of live they directly saved!

This book should be discussed in all schools showing what it takes to make change. And how constant doubt can be over come.

The book is long, but the details are wonderful!

Loved this book. It was a touch hard to listen to the neglect the poor child went through. Danielle Steel did a wonderful job with the stories surprising turns. I didn’t see some of them coming which was wonderful. It is not fun to guess what is going to happen. The main character had depth, compassion and great insight into herself. Which is a wonderful reminder to us all to remember our own personal goals and to follow them.

This book was much longer than I thought it would be. And yes I knew how many hours before I started. I usually can only listen in 20-30 minutes stints. That made listen to this book in particular a bit harder. The stories are great, intertwined, very relevant to the time period. But in short stints of listening it is hard to keep it all straight. I recommend doing at least an hour or more a listen. It will help the books flow be even greater.

It is amazing how our large world is so small and intertwined. This book helps bring that to life over hundreds of years in NY city. I loved listening to how NY has changed over the years and how the people have adapted to some of its different but defying challenges.

I will for sure listen to this authors other books. But I will plan better to make sure I have better time to devote to the listen before I do.

Compelling story of the good of humankind. Loved the entire story. One person can make a difference! I enjoyed the author explaining at the end which parts were based on a true story and who those individuals were.

I am amazed how a young person goes off in the world at 9 years old to work and struggle for food. I know it happens daily but it is still a shock to hear. My children enjoyed listening with me. It was an impressive story and had many lessons for my children to learn about the world.
Also it should be noted how frank the author was about his experience. This was not a sob story just a telling of his journey.
